My take on the QB situation. Lagow was wilsons guy to fill the roll of sudfeld. First couple games you could argue he did that. Last few you can argue what in the world is he thinking. Lagow looks to question everything he does now. I have defended him so far this season. I'll stand by it. I still think this is a huge reality check for him and now it's getting to him. He's trying to be a heisman QB with forcing throws. I also believe Wilson has changed the tempo. I loved what he had with Lagow and offense first two games. But where has that tempo gone?! Onto Zander. I love his grit and toughness. He's tiny but he is not afraid and I like that. I think his short game is fine. I wish we would run him in some sets and run the read option and then after a few times pull it on Play Action and dump one at medium or deep range just to see what he has. He had deep balls in HS that were like Suds. Not kidding. Go watch his tape. Cameron I think showed some zip and good reads when he came in against PSU. Ramsey/King.... We don't really know what they can exactly do....we get them some experience to compete for next year and give Lagow a run for his money. So it's a pick your poison deal. I hope Peters transfers from Michigan (lol long shot) however Michigan is bringing in huge QB commits left and right. Watch for top QBs to not want to compete against 5 other top QBs. Just look at Alabama situation. Overall.... We can point fingers we all do.... But one question I have for discussion is.... Is it time for Wilson to give up the play calling? This is top of my concern list. Forget the QB situation, but the tempo, control, time management has been awful all season basically.

I think he's having a lot of problems with Lagow, as he doesn't seem to know the offense at all. That and the fact that he can't make the simplest of throws means CKW is having to constantly adjust the offense to cater to Lagow. Unfortunately it isn't working. We've now lost the run game as well.

Lackluster QB play will have that effect.  His inaccuracy makes defenses brave enough to stack the box for the run and dare him to beat them with his arm, and he hasn't done it.

I don't see how we can't make a change.  It's getting late in the year and Lagow's accuracy is a legitimate issue that has not only limited the offense but cost us games.  We have a winning record right now and are closing in on bowl eligibility if we had serviceable QB play, if Lagow is what some on this board hyped him up to be.

Time to cut the crap.  Wilson's job is to win games, and this insistence on playing Lagow has done the exact opposite a few times this year.  Sit him on the bench, let him learn the playbook and work on his accuracy because right now he's a strong arm and nothing else.

Not being a smart aleck or trying to stir anything up, but who exactly would be your choice to put out there then?

I agree with the issues you bring up but the bottom line is "we have what we have" and the coaches obviously have little faith in the back-ups.  I will not be surprised if we see Zander or someone else next week but the staff is obviously not excited with the alternatives.  Before the season I posted that Lagow was the most important component of our success this year, and said nothing else was remotely close, and unfortunately it looks as though I was correct. (On the flip-side I also incorrectly stated that I doubted the defense would improve....Glad to say I was wrong in regards to the D).

We're not going to go bowling if Lagow remains our quarterback, imo. It's doubtful we will if we bench him for another guy, but at this point we have to try someone else. Even if it's just for a quarter or two. Every game Lagow has a few possessions that make you go "see, he has the ability to be a starting Big 10 quarterback, he just needs to bring this for four quarters." But he never does. He'll look good for a little bit, turn around and throw a pass right to the other team, and repeat.

My personal choice would be Cameron, I prefer drop back passers and he seemed to be a better passer than Diamont the little we saw.  I'm not thrilled with any of the alternatives though.  The best thing for Diamont is a redshirt, and King etc could use a redshirt.

I'm not a big hopes and dreams guy, nor have I ever been a big believer in the positive thinking stuff.  If you're costing the team wins, and he has, than you shouldn't be on the field.

This.  I'm not saying you give the others an infinite leash, but give them a chance and see if they can do something.  We know what we're getting with Lagow, and it's not good.

I do remember being impressed by Cameron last season against PSU but man it was such a small sample size. Are they trying to redshirt him this year or has he already used that up?

Is the last part calling out Allen? The DC who has turned around the defense and it's hard to get stops after stops when your team is on the field for basically the first half in all of those games. It's the offense that is getting us in these holes. Defense gets a stop then offense goes 3 and out or throws a pic or can't convert a third down. So if it is calling out Allen I would think again on that. Yeah the first two drives on D weren't pretty but the offense didn't do didly squat.

Wondering if you watched the game today?   The defense was flat awful.  And they had the ball first.  Blaming the offense for the first half?  Really?  Seriously?    The game plan was horrible.  We adjusted well, but statistics can lie.  Turned the defense around?  We're 3-4 and we've been down 2 touchdowns in the first half to every decent we've played.  Better numbers aside, he is not a good game planner.  He is a good game manager and makes good adjustments, but seriously....watch the games.   The offense has to help, and I said so.  But Allen's defense came out and gave up 3 scoring drives in the first half when we didn't even challenge them.   It's not quite as simple as you make it sound.

Cameron is a RS sophomore.
