I think Fickell will be a good hire for ND. 

I believe Fickell was waiting until his kids were done with high school to take another job. His daughter played basketball with a friend's daughter who is a Junior in high school so may have another year unless ND job takes precedent.

Oklahoma supposedly looking at Josh Heupel (Tennessee head coach -- played at Oklahoma) and Mario Cristobal (Oregon) to fill their vacant spot.

My hot take:  Notre Dame should be taking a long hard look at Cristobal.

Not sure about the money, but I think Devine just always wanted to coach Notre Dame. 

There are also Lou Holtz and Bobby Petrino, who ironically enough, left NFL jobs in their first seasons with games remaining to go to -- Arkansas. 

Spurrier took a year off after quitting the Redskins, but I think most knew he would return to college.

I think with this tweet, Elika (not sure exactly sure who she is) was mocking Adam Schefter for the report that OU was interested in Kingsbury, which very likely came from -- as you mentioned -- his agent in hopes of pressuring the Cardinals into an extension.

Yep. Forgot about him. And there's Ray Perkins -- he left the Giants for Alabama in the early 1980s.

I really get a kick out of the Vols fanbase. The general feeling that they should unquestionably be competing for national titles every year (which, hey, I'm not really hating on that b/c, well, IU basketball) the calamitous coaching searches over the past decade, never ending up with anyone they actually want, being pretty up in arms that they ended up with someone like Heupel (of course thinking they deserve much better), then realizing they should totally buy in to Heupel half way through one season, only for his alma mater to open up and simultaneously melt down thinking he will pull a Kiffin while also trying to convince themselves that UT is a way better job and he'd never leave for OU. Love it.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Bobby Petrino.  His exit from the Falcons to the come back to the college ranks at Arkansas was about as ugly a split as you'll ever see.  He resigned from the Falcons after only 13 games.
