To be clear, UMd President Wallace Loh did not want Durkin back, we’re told. He apparently felt he had no choice https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2018/10/30/maryland-regents-expected-recommend-dj-durkin-damon-evans-retain-jobs/

One other thing from Kevin Anderson's statement, re. Maryland that's particularly damning: "It is my sincere belief that the instability within the athletic department that began in September 2017 led to the devastating tragedy in May 2018."

The appendices of UMd report includes some supportive texts Durkin received. From one parent: "You are a great man, father and coach. A little tough love never hurt no one. I can never imagine in a million years that you or your staff would do anything that would hurt any child”

More from Kevin Anderson: "It is also abundantly clear that the instability and void in leadership that was created by my abrupt departure lead to a serious lack of institutional control."

This version of the report includes some appendices. This is from Kevin Anderson's statement: "The way I was treated was undeserved, the process was a disgrace, my reputation has been permanently damaged and my family has suffered terribly"

Looks as though Maryland's board of regents has now formally released the commission's investigative report, which leaked last week. Not noticing any redactions. If you missed anything, here tis: https://www.usmd.edu/newsroom/Report-to-USM-Independent-Investigation-UMD-Footbal-10-23-2018.pdf

Remember when we said UMd President Wallace Loh had a meeting scheduled with the chancellor this morning? Well, that meeting was cancelled. More here but regents still slowly working their way through complicated process regarding football program

Sounds like Maryland President Wallace Loh is currently meeting in-person with chancellor. DJ Durkin and Damon Evans also scheduled to meet this morning, as @CFBHeather reported this AM. We could have an interesting news day, it'd seem...

Thank you for bringing MD and Rutgers into the B1G.  Hard to fathom decision earlier today at MD and now this at Rutgers.

Rutgers football player charged in attempted double-murder plot

A linebacker on the Rutgers University football team was accused Tuesday of involvement in a plot to murder two members of a friend's family, authorities said.

Izaia Bullock, 22, a junior at the university from Linden, faces two counts of first-degree attempted murder and two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder.

Bullock was dismissed from the Rutgers football team Tuesday, and the university said in a statement that he will face disciplinary proceedings.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Rutgers police chief Kenneth Cop announced his arrest and the charges in a news statement Tuesday evening.

They said the charges came after determining that on Monday, "Bullock initiated a plot to murder the family members of an acquaintance."

The targets, who are not affiliated with Rutgers, were not injured, a prosecutor's spokeswoman said.

According to his player page on the university's athletic website, Bullock played linebacker and running back at Linden High School, and played with the Gattaca Football Club.

Gattaca is a private junior college-like program that assists high school graduates into getting recruited by NCAA football programs.

Bullock is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center before a first appearance in Superior Court in New Brunswick.

So they're fine with letting the strength coach -- and him alone -- take the fall? What a crock of sh*t!

Ruin the guy's life without any proof? ... Are you serious? A kid died. The proof is the dead body of Jordan  McNair. And we're not talking about a court of law. We're talking about common sense and doing what's right. ... Was Rick Pitino convicted of anything? He lost his job.

Interesting how the standards are different when the victim isn’t a woman

At this point, Maryland is doing more damage to their program by keeping Durkin than by firing him. Some of the current players have already spoken out against the decision to keep him. Also, what mother in their right mind will be okay with having their kid be coached by Durkin?
Agreed. How can a parent allow their son to play for him?
