Over his career he wins about 2/3s of his games. Over the last 10 years. About 2/3s of his games. Last 5 years about 2/3s of his games. Yeah he’s got more talent but so do the teams he will be facing. And even if he can up his game to about 75% of his games. I don’t think that keeps them happy in AA. What he’s not going to do is get arrested. Whittingham's Utes were excellent last year. Two years ago they were 5-7. He's also 66 years old - while guys like Cig and Pitino show that is a non-factor for some, it is also true that some coaches start to lose the energy to run a program as effectively at that age. str8baller 1 Quote
Home Jersey Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I think Whit will be a good coach at UM. Probably not for very long though. PSU is my sleeper pick for the CFP this year, mainly because of their schedule. Stuhoo, Brass Cannon and skhoosier2 3 Quote

I’d venture to say that if we were any other logo—with a 16-0 finish, a defending national championship, plenty of returning talent, and a top transfer portal class—we'd be ranked in the top 5 Probably true... but Cig relished the underdog role... and can just win 'em all and shut the critics up... just like last year... even made the mouth of the SEC apologize for dogging the Hoosiers all season last year.I Quote

You might be right but I think it's a really good fit for him and he'll be able to elevate Va Tech where they'll compete for the conference championship fairly quickly. Recruiting/Transfer rankings indicate this. While they don't have PSU type resources they do indeed have a very solid backing with a rich history. Also, IUFB is competing against him for recruits in the DMV and we'll lose some to him. But I for sure understand why you think this and it's fair. He hasn't been able to get the big conference game wins. Home Jersey 1 Quote

He hasn't been able to get the big conference game wins. He had success at Vandy when it was much more difficult to do that. VT made a significant investment to support Franklin. IMO he will absolutely raise their floor and make them relevant in the ACC at least. str8baller 1 Quote

Don’t love their QB but there’s premium talent everywhere on that roster + a very solid staff. The OSU game is huge. Protect home field so we have the cushion to drop games in Ann Arbor and Seattle and still make the CFP Quote
