Dodged a bullet with the Sorsby situation. Any chance he plays another down in college?

Article posted that UC knew and covered it up.  We definitely dodged a bullet.  I wonder if sending him to rehab is trying to save some type of eligibility?  Not sure that can happen since he bet on games his team played in at IU.  Kid has wrecked his future.  Sad as he was likely going to go in round 1 next year if he had the year projected at TTU.

If that is the case, I hope they have a decent backup.

They do not.  Some QB from Tulsa that was mid and their backup last year tore his ACL so if he comes back, it won't be until a few games in.  By all accounts, he probably needed to sit another year behind someone as his outings last year were inconsistent at best.

I can't figure out of Dickitch ...

Has just gone completely off the rails.
Is trying to get clicks.
Needs attention.

I mean ... seriously? Even he has to realize the deep, deep well of sh*t that would be created by college players betting.

Wow. If this is true it is so gross because it means UC were willing to sit on it for a mil. But that is some pretty serious hardball. Question: supposedly he’s going into the supplemental draft. Surely no NFL team’s touching him, right?

Well duh... wrong!  ;)

They won't touch an ******* like Pavia because he is a 5'9" ******* with a sub-standard arm. This broken kid is tall and has arm strength.

not to forfeit a pick, I wouldn't think so... but... I could see him getting a camp invite.

Pretty dumb if true. He “kept” a million by forfeiting a minimum of 5 million.

technically well before that 5 million was in play for him... buuuuuuut, very very dumb to bet on CFB, ESPECIALLY YOUR OWN TEAM!!!

Not before. He had a choice to pay back a million after the 5 million was was in play.  This wasn’t a mistake made by not knowing the future.  Just stupid thinking Cincy wouldn’t do it. Or perhaps he didn’t know they knew

I meant... risking 5 million by gambling, at all. Sorry

UC should have to pay the price as well.  Extorting money from a dumb college kid who needs help because he's an addict is an even worse look.  Lack of institutional control is the least of what they should have coming.  They knew and didn't turn him in or help him.  If he had stayed at UC, nobody would be in the know.  Because he left and got into a p*ssing match with them, UC decided to play hardball.  He's not absolved of responsibility.  Gambling is a widespread problem amongst young college kids.  But the university officials should have known better and cared enough about him to get him the help he needed while saving their own hyde by reporting as soon as they found out.  Sorsby wouldnt have gone to TTU and nobody would be in this situation...no suing for money from UC and no loss by TTU of a QB.  Sorsby then would have been forced into rehab like he is now but from the University that found out about this before entering the portal.  While I understand he owes them money per their contract, this feels more like extorting given they knew and didnt self report.

Oh God, am I being naive here? Is he actually supposedly good enough to take the PR hit for?

He's really not good, especially in NFL context, but there are people that like his tools *gags* and I could see someone giving up a late pick in the supplemental draft for him. What he did is monumentally stupid, but there are guys with far worse issues that have been taken in the past. Just browsing 2027 picks by team and some teams that might be dumb enough to do it...

Browns have 2 5s and 2 7s.

Dolphins have 2 5s, a 6, and a 7.

Jets have a 5 and 2 6s.

Lions as a darkhorse have a 6 and 2 7s.

If he goes in the supplemental draft, I'd be floored if someone went higher than a 5th to grab him.

I shouldn't be so snarky! I think that the PR hit for an NFL team that drafts a kid that was hooked on on-line gambling in college and gets treatment is minimal.

72 hours and it’s old news.

And before you know it, he’s the new Art Schlichter.  I hope he gets the help he needs…and that it works for him.
