As I'm sure you are all aware, we have been under attack with a malicious redirect code that was sending members to various sites when trying to access BtownBanners.com.  From 8pm last night to 6am this morning I was working very closely with a company we hired to fix the situation.  Once the situation was fixed, the only way we could ensure the code didn't reappear was to update BtownBanners.com to the latest software version 4.0.

We know there are many changes to this new version that will take some time to get used to.  We ourselves are not well versed in the new system yet either as we did not get the opportunity to play around with it before going live.  That is NEVER the best situation, but when members can no longer visit BtownBanners from work, or their computers we had a problem.

The site you see right now is VERY BASIC.  This was the bare bones to get us up and running.  Over the course of the next few days/weeks/months we will be adding back and changing the site to your preferences.  I want to stress that this is a VERY BASIC version of what we will end up on.

The company I used last night's advice was to keep the site down for two weeks to get familiar with the site for a smooth transition and launch.  You all know after reading that how crazy that suggestion was given the time of the year.  We decided to move forward with the hopes to use THIS THREAD as a learning tool.

PLEASE use this thread to comment things you like, things you'd change, things you don't like.  If it isn't mentioned in this thread, we will not be able to fix it as we don't know there is an issue.  We will continue to update this first post with your Ideas and suggestions below.  Please do us a favor and let us know your thoughts.

Things We Love:

1. BtownBanners mobile browser and computer browser are the same experience.  (App is still best mobile w/ update coming!)

Things We Hate:

1.  #IUBBPickems - Where did they go?  Pickems are going to have to be rebuilt from the ground up for this new version.  The coding was never transferred by the app owner so this is something we will tackle this summer.  We apologize that the current pickems are affected by this.

Things that need to change:

1. fix the broken images under everyone's avatars. (3/24/16) FIXED
2. Notifications for Firefox & Google are really annoying.  Can we turn off?

I don't post much, but lurk quite a bit... I just wanted to say that I *really* like the new theme/layout.  It's clean, efficient, and *fast* in Chrome on my PC.  It just feels quicker and more stable than the last version.  To me, that's more important than lots of fancy features and graphics, so don't feel like you have to go changing a bunch of things!

 

Oh, I guess just fix the broken images under everyone's avatars. :)

Appreciate that feedback!  We'll get the broken pictures updated soon.  Hadn't noticed that one yet!

I am using Firefox Version 45.0.1.  The notification popups are to the point of extremely annoying.  Everytime I refresh a page, or go to another page, I get a pop up asking if I want to recieve notifications from this page. 

I still get the phishing notifications, but I am assuming that will go away, once you clear yourself from the black lists.

Hmm... Not sure about the notification popups.  You can manage your notification settings in your profile (upper right hand corner to access)

It is the browser notification that is causing the problems.  I don't want them, so since they are turned off, the web site wants to remind me to turn them on each and every page.  Highly annoying.  :)

I like the new layout but could there be a setting to see unread threads as threads rather than each individual post (like the old version or on the app)? Right now it's coming up like a facebook news feed so the page could be filled with new posts from a single thread, rather than seeing the thread title that's been updated.

Maybe I am missing a setting here, but I liked how once you read a thread and then came back after new posts had been made, it automatically took you to the last post read vs. the first post in the thread.

If you click on the dot or star to the left of the thread title it will take you to the newest post.

Old Fart's don't like change as we get pretty set in our ways, but after playing around with the new site and learning some of its nuances, I think it's going to work well.  I especially like the feature where I can mark an entire Forum as read vs. having to open each thread within the Forum and marking it as read.  I also like the link in the bottom right to quickly go to the Next Unread Topic.  All you youngsters ought to adapt pretty quickly if I can. 

Now having said all that, I don't see any Undo icon to remove the bold text I just typed.  Also, I tried to access Emoticons and got nothing.

This is the worst timeline. Besides the fact that now I don't know if my posts are being liked by someone yucky like Hova, it no longer serves the main function I used it for. Like often means "I think the same thing and it would be redundant to say so" if someone says something like "That was hilarious." I can just like it instead of also saying that. Or Treesh says RoJo did so-and-so during practice and I saw it on the periscope so I'm all "like" because I agree he was doing that. But, now no one can tell if it's me backing up Treesh or Dalton appreciating the information.

This displeases me.

What are you people talking about?  I'm seeing 'Likes' on my posts as well as 'Likes' on others posts.  This includes you Martin and Hova.  However, I can't get an emoticon smiley face so :-D will have to do.

Something I've noticed is when I click on the last page of a thread, it takes me to the top of the last page but not to the last post I read on that page as did the previous version.
