(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Just listened to Romeos interview with Matt Dennison on the Hoosier Sports Report(Southern Indiana.)

On Kansas: He said he likes how they use big guards. Didn't sound real fired up.

On Vandy: Bryce Drew is telling kids that because he was an NBA guard, he knows what it takes to get there. When asked if Garland was a positive for landing Romeo, Romeo replied "I guess you could say that."

On IU: Archie has told Romeo that he could be the Indiana legend that pushes IU back to the top and that he would be the focal point of the offense and they would build their team around him. Loves how much IU fans want him there.

On whether IU is in better shape now than with Crean?

"Yes sir."

Not to read too much into it, but that sounds pretty positive for IU. Just my opinion

What will be the determining factor on where Romeo commits?

"When I feel a school in my heart, I'll make a commitment."

We obviously know how that quote went with Garland. Hopefully it’s the same with Romeo

Winston garland played us all like a grand piano.

Not all. Tons of people had vandy the leader this whole time and knew it would be a up hill battle from day 1 if CAM getting the job. Once you strip away all the noise this was a very simple recruitment. Stay home or go play at elsewhere at a “basketball” school. Since CAM had 6 months to make up ground on a home school team where he had a relationship with the coach since the 3rd grade I would say he did good to put IU in a position to land him. Hopefully he has made up enough ground with Romeo to give us the home team advantage.

Not going to argue but so called sources were convinced he was coming to iu and rabby sure seemed to think we had a great shot. I'm not falling for it again. Rabby got played imo.

Sources on a free message board? Rabby reported what he was told and he admitted that in his gut stuff wasn’t adding up and yes I agree with you he got played but outside of a free IU board and IU message boards who was convinced he was coming. Every national service I followed had vandy the favorite ever since duke was out of picture. I learned a long time ago in following recruiting gather the information from all angles and then sort through the noise and then form my own opinion on the situation.
Romeo’s recruitment is pretty simple
If he want to contend for a national title, play with a good friend(Grimes)play for a blueblood with crazy facilities to help him get to NBA but share some of the spotlight he will go to Kansas, If he wants a whole state wrapped around his finger, help bring a national power back to elite status, play in front of friends and family, and have awesome facilities and coaches to help him prepare for the NBA he will go to IU, if he wants to play with Garland he will go to vandy

I've watched Romeo play for years. He DOES NOT like to share the spotlight. Good kid. Team player. Not cocky. But he's confident and he wants the ball and he wants to score. He likes being the big man on campus. IU seems like the fit.

A humble superstar. I’ll take that any day of the week and twice on Sunday

Looking back and hearing mom had tears in her eyes because she knew he was coming to iu. How absurd was that and I bought into it. Never again.

I learned my lesson with IU football after that Michigan State game. And I learned my lesson with IU basketball with the Garland recruitment. I’m not getting my hopes up anymore. If they win, awesome. If they lose, oh well. And alcohol isn’t on the table now either. That doesn’t solve problems

Well said. People can keep being upset with the Garland recruitment but it's time to move on. Every recruitment is different. Yes I was confident in our chances but as you said outside of IU guys we didn't stand a chance obviously since UCLA was second. That is why I said it was hard to get a true read because everything going around that I heard or read was mainly IU guys which is gonna be biased somewhat, but Rabs tried his best. No one said it was a done deal and wrapped up in a bow so I don't get why people are giving up on Romeo. He has 3 great options and depending when he announces or has an idea all 3 have a shot.

I'm not a B Town resident but I don't mind driving. I'm from a small town so I have to drive at least an hour for anything besides a Wal Mart trip.
