Walking Boot of Doom Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 The wins nice but I can't get over the fact we should be 11-1 and in the drivers seat of the big ten. Very well could be undefeated in B1G. Just don't show up every night. Hard to do that every night yes, but in game adjustments can be done. It's frustrating but I guess it's something to get over? I don't know. It's happened to every team, every year since our undefeated Hoosiers in '76. Everyone is going to lose a game they shouldn't. This is the most consistent Indiana team we've seen under Crean in two years, and could prove to be more consistent that the 2012-2013 if they close out the season strong. Legitimately nothing to be frustrated with right now. Great win by the team. So well rounded. We won with Yogi playing his worst game of the season, Troy only playing about 12 'Good Troy' minutes, and TB in foul trouble. Incredible. colonel06 1 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 IU bench out scored Iowa's bench 28-0 I was a little worried about our bench going into the season, and it has been a huge surprise. We are still a little thin at guard, but IU continues to make it work. colonel06 and DChoosier 2 Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Gritty, gritty defense from the boys in the final 2 minutes. So great to see this team value defense. Quote
Popular Post DChoosier Posted February 12, 2016 Popular Post Posted February 12, 2016 Bryant is getting into foul trouble fairly often. When he does get in trouble Crean looks down the bench and puts in Max B. I would like to personally thank Hanner for partying too much because I doubt Max would be here if Hanner was still around. swatford, Walking Boot of Doom, Bobman1 and 6 others 9 Quote
ALASKA HOOSIER Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'm back online after watching OUR Hoosiers and crowd....beat both the refs and Iowa! Niego! Hartman! Z3! Rojo! OG! Max! TB! JW! Yogi! colonel06, maxwell and HoosierAloha 3 Quote
Naismith Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 This present day, senseless, "Nickel-Dime" Officiating drains all fluidity - and will potentially ruin this game. But, I'll take the win. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
ALASKA HOOSIER Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'm so proud of those team tonight. They played better D, offense stalled against the zone with no one flashing. Max knows how to beat the zone tho. TW just stands around when he should be on the baseline. DChoosier and JaybobHoosier 2 Quote

Trish Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 You will drive yourself insane with thinking like that. We've been pretty darn good in conference play. We weren't going undefeated. Games going differently than on paper is what makes this stuff fun. Yes but our L's are the result of not doing the fundamentals. Which hurts. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Trish Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Anyone figure out why Fran stuck with the zone in the first half?... Why would you do that? Just trying to get some insight from other people. We were hot and we're moving the ball, yet they wanted us to keep doing it? Doesn't make sense to me. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

I have not seen Iowa much this year, do not know what defense they tend to use but I am sure that the scouting report is that our offense tends to bog down against decent zones. But, as you stated, it seems like he would have adjusted. Quote

But, as you stated, it seems like he would have adjusted. Our offense seems to take a turn for the worst when we're on the road, which is expected. But when we're in the hall, I don't think it's wise to let our boys get an inch of Space. Interesting coaching from Fran tonight. I must say, I'm impressed by Tommy Boy calling good times out. Took him 7 years to figure it out... I've never seen Iowa this year. They have very impressive wins that have gotten them consideration of a early projection 1 seed. I thought I our boys wouldn't be able to win tonight but I'm glad I was wrong. I wasn't very impressed with Iowa. Now I'm sure it was an off night, but jeez. 0 points from the bench and shooting fifty something from the line? I'm sure practice will be fun for them tomorrow afternoon. We stayed strong, hit some shots, moved the ball. Good Troy was here in the second half at times. Nicky , Max, Collin, OG, Morgan , and Niego all stepped it up with Yogi and Byrant having off nights. Time outs are better (like you said, only took 7 years) Substitutions not as puzzling or frenetic Defense better Less TO's. Granted, as recently as Wiscy we had 20 but early in the year we had that many against really bad teams. Won without stars dominating Would have liked to have seen Troy roam/cut to the baseline more but at least he did not go "one on three" except for one drive that went too deep. Crean does not seem to freak out as much when the games get close. In the past when the games got tight he looked like he had been driving for 5 hours and was desperate to find a bathroom. Bryant was money going 4-6 FG, 2-2 FTs, 10 points and 7 rebounds in 14 minutes. He was off being close to Iowa players going up for layups. I kind of want Thomas giving a few hard fouls so they refs actually understand what a foul is. ALASKA HOOSIER and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
Old Friend Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Yes but our L's are the result of not doing the fundamentals. Which hurts. When we win sometimes, like tonight, our fundamentals aren't exactly stellar. We are not a good fundamental team, and we don't win because we out-execute people. When we win, it's with great transition offense, good shooting, and lately, solid defense and rebounding on the offensive glass. Indiana is a bit of a conundrum for me because I don't like the style much, but love their toughness, speed, and the way they run when they're able to do it. Teams that can slow Indiana down like Wisconsin all the time or Penn State last week generally beat Indiana. When we're allowed to play up tempo, it doesn't always look great, but the floor's spaced so well, opportunities - and points - come in bunches. raorIU and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
