Indiana vs OSU Post-Game Thread

Recommended Posts

One thing I noticed in Crean's post-game press conference was players coming off screens probing and not attacking. I thought that's what Rob Johnson was doing the past couple games. He was never attacking really, only probing looking for someone to pass to. Against OSU I thought he attacked off the screens and it's a big reason why he ended up with 6 assists in the game and some nice passes to Bryant for easy finishes. Glad Crean seems to have pointed out the errors there.

Seriously who gives a flip if we are ranked or not? As long as this team keeps getting better on the defensive end I will be happy. Regardless of where we sit in the rankings

The bottom half of the rankings are relatively meaningless anyway, they're just too tightly competitive. I care a lot more about what KenPom says than the polls.

A lot of people were interested throughout the thread and Hutch's article though, so I figured I'd post the updates. As we've already seen this year though, results are more important than ranks.

My son always walks in during games and says "what is IU ranked?" He's 9. My answer the last few years is we aren't ranked. He says "what?" His mind can't grasp what is going on with rankings. But he cares about it cause it's a status symbol. His next question always is "Are WE winning?" His third question is "what are these guys ranked?" His final question is "what is Kentucky ranked, #1 right?" Ugh!

Virtually every game goes like this.

Sounds like my 10 yr old. He started paying attention in 2013 so he thinks IU should be hanging around #1.

My son is nine too!

C'mon doc; sounds like we've got a tailor made 2 on 2 game in the works!

My son is nine also. Maybe we can get a Btown Banners sponsored travel team together.

The rankings do matter a lot to the younger fans though. It is tough when they go to school down here in the Southern part of the state and their friends' teams, pUKe and UofL, are always ranked.

Our son hasn’t played organized ball for a couple of years, but the environment could not have been better for us to celebrate his thirteenth birthday as our guys absolutely took Thad’s boys to the wood shed on Sunday.  He got player autographs.  OG and Doc Libby were gracious to allow him to have pictures taken with them.  We even had a short unexpected exchange with Fred Glass as he was heading into the gift shop.  This is going to be an awesome season and we are very excited about the momentum the staff and players are putting together.

In my opinion there is no reason to be concerned about Z.  I know there was some discussion earlier in the thread.  Somewhere like around an hour and twenty minutes prior to game time the dude was making nice cuts without the ball, catching the pass and knocking down treys from the baseline, wing and top of the key.  We are very fortunate to have very good shooting depth on this team.  About the time someone begins to cool off, Nick will be as hot as ever.  Get well soon James!

Btw my son did convince me to play a little horse, pig and some 1/1 last night in the driveway.  It is amazing the inspiration a little OSU butt kicking will give to a teenager and his father.  I feel  41 should consider the sponsorship of Alford, Wayne, Safety, Stu & Sons.  I think that would be a great return on your promotional dollar.  We are always good at spending someone else’s  money.  J

Well the good news is every four years you are certain a TC coached team will be ranked in the top 25. [attachment=3196:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1452615203.431995.jpg]

It used to be every 4 years we won at least one BT title and every 6/7 years a national title. Now we celebrate having a top 25 ranked team every four years.

I still think it's pretty bad this was brought up as some sort of real accomplishment.

"Hey, give Crean 4 years and he'll have you ranked at least 1 week".

What's weird is Yogi was a starter on the number 1 ranked team in the country. Not sure why this came up from them? Plus we were ranked earlier.

Obviously the twitter account is handled by some east coast types that have no understanding of the tradition, heritage, and accomplishments of Indiana Basketball. Troubling times indeed.
