B10 Basketball Recruiting Thread

B1G schools making a splash in the ‘22 overseas market the last couple of days. Illinois signs 6’10” French PF Zacharie Perrin over offers from UCLA and Texas and UM signs 6’10” Lebanese SF Youseff Khayat over offers from Xavier, DePaul and Wake Forest. Don’t know anything about Perrin, but Khayat is a pretty highly regarded kid in European youth basketball. Imagine he has a good chance to be a rotation piece this season.

4-star ‘23 SF Devin Royal commits to Ohio St over MSU and Bama. Under-appreciated player. Good get for Holtmann.

Illinois lands '23 Amani Hansberry.  6'8" attends Mount St. Joseph HS (Bryson Tucker's teammate this past year).  Averaged 16 & 10 en route to the Final Four at Peach Jam.  Watched him play several games last winter and I liked what I saw.  Always played hard, could shoot the 3 and could grab a rebound and easily go coast-to-coast.  247 says he weighs 225 but he's got a good frame and can easily add another 25 lbs.  Wish he'd have gone outside the B1G.

Yeah kinda bummed about this one. Not sure we showed a lot of interest, but would rather him not go to Purdue.

Or conversely, he made it known he wasn't all that interested in IU.  Never know for sure in some of these recruitments.

Top 100 ‘23 SG George Washington de-commits from OSU. Don’t love him. He’s a remorseless gunner who thinks he’s a PG. Holtmann is apparently going to push hard on Lawrent Rice, who isn’t as highly rated but for my money is a better player.

My guess he ends up at Louisville. They are starving for guards and could promise minutes.

Imagine you’re right. He’s from Louisville, though his Mom is an Asst at Dayton now and he’s going to school over there this year.

In Travis Branham's story for 247 on Washington's de-committment and also in his tweet he claims Washington had an IU offer but it must have been a double secret offer because we've got absolutely zero about him on btb!   :-D

Me too, I was hoping he would let his recruitment go out a little longer so we could get a better idea of his ceiling and maybe get involved at that point.  Poodoo has done a nice job of getting early commitments from what in-state talent there is for '24.  Just hope Bidunga stays clear of there.
