Updated 2016 class rankings (12  commits). ESPN only does a top 40.

247 - 75/13

Scout - 76/13

Rivals - 90/14

That actually kind of sucks.   I know a lot of the rankings are based on number of kids, and our class is going to be smaller than normal, but those rankings are back to the bad old days.

The one thing I do like:  most of the kids Wilson is bringing in are at least ranked now.  If I remember correctly we used to only get a handful of ranked kids, and the majority were not.

I've always told people to not look at the rankings but pay more attention to who we are beating for these kids. You're correct, it used to be northern Illinois and Toledo that we would beat. Now it's power 5 teams and some pretty good ones. Delroy Baker? We beat Florida for him. I know he is gone, but Tommy mister? We beat out notre dame and mich state. I think coach does a great job of seein talent and going for it. Rankings are fun I do wanna see us improve it, but it's just the surface of the recruiting situation.

Great point. Also, CKW has been great at finding the right guys for his offense and developing them. WR was seen as a weakness last season and now it's a position of immense strength. We have a solid group of offensive linemen and CKW has these guys well coached (except for not reacting to defenders in the neutral zone, but that's a pet peeve of mine).

I mostly agree with you.  I only look at these occasionally. but I do believe there is a pretty strong correlation between the overall rankings and the results.

Oh I totally agree. They aren't lacking in value. I pay close attention too. And I do believe we have seen an uptick in our quality based off those two classes a couple years ago that were top 40 overall. When you mix quality and quantity you see a program rise because competition nurtures talent. We still haven't got to see some of the guys from those classes. Geeeeked.

I didn't read that right and just spent 10 minutes trying to figure out when Delroy Baker left IU.

And there is a correlation. There are plenty of guys that are just as good in the 2 and 3 star range, and there are a few coaches here and there who are really good at picking them and and getting them signed. Overall, if you can get a class that is heavy on 4 stars. it will generally show dividends on the field and in your record.

What are the odds of this happening. I follow recruiting pretty closely. Minus not subscribing for anything. Think we can flip ennis, keep swann from going west coast?

Would love to get that whole list, but the truth is the odds would be against us getting more than 4 or 5 of them. Getting Swann and Miller and one  of the other D guys would be a major coup.

I want Watts and one of the RBs.
