I agree with the premise that cheaters don't usually end up winning. And---even if they do in basketball then they usually fail in life. Always catches up with you. Deep truths.

The power of the quote is admission of "purchasing" players.  People want to act like it doesn't happen but the proof is ever present if you pay attention to the recruiting landscape.

I'd be crazy to say that cheating, in some form or fashion, isn't something that happens frequently. I'm not sure I believe that Howland is cheating though. He's riding a lot of hype and has quite the resume, in comparison to the Crean's and Turgeon's of the world. So far, two of his very best recruits are from Miss. Easy for hometown kids to feel the love at first and want to represent their home.

I didn't post this relative to MSU specifically but I think they apply here too.  This is the Baylors, UK, O$U, UNLV, Texas AM, Florida State and others of the world.

 

TBH though, we have had a few recruits I would wonder about.
