IU vs. OSU Postgame Thread

Recommended Posts

Just realized we held Elliott to 79 yds on 20 rushes outside of 3 runs. Those damn big plays were a killer. ESPN in their article brought up OSU and their 500 plus yards but 3 turnovers. I am of the opinion if the 3 turnovers were a fluke then so were 3 runs (55, 65, and 75). Our defense did a hell of a job for the most part. Would it look better for ESPN if we took out all of the "fluke" plays? Would 322 total yards of offense and no turnovers make them look better? Just reading their recap it seemed as if it was not fathomable we were +3 in turnovers and it was flukey. Then they follow up 3 50 plus runs like that's not.

Your first mistake was reading ESPN.  You should probably think about that for a while, that was pretty bad.

Elliott had almost 200 yards on those 3 carries, yeah that's a kick to the nads.  We were helpless on that damn off tackle run each time.

Watching the 3 minutes of highlights at halftime of OU/CU game and they show 3 O$U TDs.  If you go by just ESPN highlights you would think O$U absolutely rolled IU.  Regardless, impressive showing by IU today.  Hopefully, we're not too banged up to compete next week.

I was totally impressed and entertained today. This team has progressed every week it seems. I really thought we were going to win until the ball hit the turf in the end zone with 00 on the clock. It was the best game I've seen since we beat Michigan in Assembly Hall two years ago. My only complaint was the WTF fake punt up 10 on our own 10? with 8? yards to go. That was just beyond stupid. They had to know Oaks runs like he's in quicksand. That gave OSU a momentum boost we didn't need to give them. This team is fun to watch though. Can't wait to get back to Btown for Rutgers. Go Hoosiers!

Had to run out to the Univ of Delaware game and didn't get a chance to post my comments.

Hell of a game!!!! No reason our boys should hang their heads, anyone of them. I haven't seen consistent effort like this since Mallorys days.

And any one of you jack wagons calling for CKWs head can meet me by the flag pole at noon tomorrow.

Easy. Let's see how the rest of the season goes.

Was a fun game and we fought hard, but this program SHOULD achieve a lot this year!

I hated the fake punt. Wilson made a huge error and it cost them. Then with only 40 or so seconds to go and IU threatening he refuses to call a timeout and lets the clock run down about 18 seconds. And he had 3 timeouts to burn. Beyond stupid. Wilson is no Urban Meyer.

As far as the fake punt goes, I don't have that big of a problem with the call. That was a matter of execution. Toth ran to the wrong side of the field. Notice the bumfoozled look on CKW's face after that play?

As far as not calling a TO, what would have been the point? We ran ourselves out of plays on a 4th and goal with time expiring. Leaving time on the clock would have only benefited OSU if we had scored. I have no problem with the call there. Things play out a bit differently, it could have bit us, but it didn't. CKW is no UM, but UM is no CKW!

With the play calling, the entire 3rd and 4th quarter we ran up the middle every first down and got nothing. You have to change it up. The offense was completely predictable, and it showed. With Howard I understand more because he always falls forward because of his power, but Redding can't do that near as well. To me, that hurt us the most outside of injuries!

Well, the running it up the middle didn't work at all. After Suds came up gimpy and just wasn't getting anything on his throws, the OSU D didn't have to respect the throw. I'm sure they recognized something was off, because even before we knew he was injured, it was obvious something was wrong there. Zander isn't the throwing threat that Suds is, and for him to be successful we have to change the playbook up so much that you pretty much have to have that done in a whole week of practices.

You would really think that our O-line could do a bit of a better job opening holes for Redding, but if OSU doesn't have to respect the pass, they can collapse the LB's into the box and close them to fast. We did try running to the outside after a while, but that is not Reddings forte. If Suds and Howard are not ready to go next week, we need to have a whole variety of screen passes, fly sweeps, slants and other short passing plays set up to open up the running game.

One of the things CKW mentioned a few weeks ago about the difference with this offense and the 2013 offense, is that this year we use the run to open up the passing game. Our receiver corp is coming along, but they are not on par with the 2013 group at this point.

I will say, if Suds and Howard are not 80-90% for next week, I'd rather they be benched and make sure they are ready for the week after.

Thats what Elliott does. The D is gonna be sick when they watch the film. We had a guy there on a couple of those runs but we didnt make the play and theres no catching that guy in the open field.

Oh I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it or saw it yesterday, but about 15 rows above us, some students ripped off a whole row of bleacher after a touchdown and passed it up and down the section of stands. The student section was madness yesterday lol.

Glad they didn't toss it over the top and especially happy nobody got hurt.  More of the student section craziness the rest of the year!!!

I'm not 100% sure where it ended up honestly. We just turned around and saw them crowdsurfing a row of bleacher up and down above us and hoping they didn't send it up and over.

We were sitting on the other side of the stadium and saw the bleacher being passed..love the craziness. Not sure much of the town would have been left standing if we had won..
In other news, I was able to spend the game surrounded by classy OSU fans.... [attachment=2702:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1444014106.193507.jpg]l
