(2016) PG Curtis Jones to IU

Recommended Posts

Cujo doubled up on senior night! :good:

‏@Coach_Rick57: 6'4 Guard Curtis "Cujo" Jones (Huntington Prep/ IU signee) had 23 pts and 12 assists in win tonight #seniornight

12 assists. That's the stat I like. Hes going to be a force once he gets stronger, which I have complete faith in IU's strength and conditioning program to take care of.

247 has an article titled Jones looking to make impact as freshman   http://indiana.247sports.com/Article/Indiana-signee-Curtis-Jones-looking-to-make-impact-as-freshman-44301294     I'm not a subscriber but if someone out there is and would like to post it for us cheap old farts to read we'd be most grateful.

A lot of the chatter has been about De'ron and Devante (rightfully so), but I think Cujo is going to be big time. I just get a good vibe. Rojo-type, just a more offensive oriented combo guard.

I said this earlier but I love the offensive game of CuJo. Green/Jones could be our backcourt In a couple years. I definitely think CuJo will make an impact as early as next season.

I think Cujo is going to come in and surprised a lot of people. I think he will come in better than freshman Rob. If you really think about it Cujo is playing some of the top competition in the US and seems to be averaging close to 20 ppg. He can definitely score at will. I definitely think he will help us in the scoring department, especially making up for some of what we lose in Yogi

From the offensive side, I think Kepner may be right but I watched CuJo play a couple of games and didn't see a strong defensive presence.  To me that's a generic problem for the basketball factories and his defensive abilities may be far greater than my perception from a couple of games on TV.  Hopefully they are.

Love it, both sound like gym rats and loved De'Ron saying, "yeah beatin Kentucky is nothing big. I had us going all the way, I mean that's my school" was awesome.

Curtis participated in all three events at the Derby Festival Classic. Didn't advance to the finals in any of them, 3 point contest, 2 on 2 and the dunk contest.

In comparison to JBJ, Curtis is not as good a shooter but probably more athletic and better finisher at the rim. Defensively it is hard to say by watching them tonight but Curtis may have a slight edge.
