2016 Wish List

I'm sorry ahead of time if there is already a topic with this, but looking at what we have leaving & reasonably what we can get in this recruiting list. I'd love for Rawle Atkins to fill in for Yogi, Eron Gordon for JBJ (if leaves), & Tj Leaf or Miles Bridges at SF for Troy. Beyond that we have Grant Gelon to take NZ3's place. So my three hopefuls; Atkins, Eron Gordon, & Bridges or Leaf.

This would mean We'd have Atkins, RJ, GG, EG guards, Bridges/Leaf/OG at the 3, Hartman/Morgan at the 4, & Bryant/Holt at the 5. If we could add a center to contribute somewhere along the line or a 4, that'd be fantastic. But, I'd hope the 4 or 5 we'd add would be grad transfer.

Assuming a 6 man class. My best guess would be CuJo, Bruce Brown and De'Ron Davis will join GG. Arizona scares me a bit for DD as others have mentioned, but we been strong with him since day 1 and continued after Coach McClain left. Not sure who else may be moving in on him in my last post in his thread.

 

We could possibly fill a spot or 2 with Xavier Simpson, Tyson Carter or Mario Kegler. I'm probably missing another wingy somewhere in this list. lol.

 

That's about the best I can narrow it down right now.

IU is strong with Jenkins. Getting him out of the south is going to be tough though. Believe he is visiting Miss St today.


Maybe we should split this out into a general 2016 thread and keep it going. We haven't really had an updated discussion in awhile.

Agreed. I think Cujo is closest to popping for IU and could on that aug 28th visit. If he doesn't then, and makes it to gtown on Sept 3rd, idk. I think the interesting thing here is probably the most talented player IU is recruiting in Miles Bridges visits that weekend with teammate, Cujo. Early reports certainly suggested MSU bc of proximity but that may be a bit overblown. UK seems to be in the drivers seat for Bridges and he does have visits scheduled for both schools after his IU visit. I've said this before though, a visit can change everything in a recruitment. Once IU gets these guys on campus they really do a great job and could turn the recruitment around. Between that and TB recruiting Bridges and Cujo, i think it's a little early to look at Bridges and say MSU or UK. Now THAT would turn this class around.

Mario Kegler's recruitment is going quickly. Quick is good for Crean. It has the Troy Williams feel to it.



Brown is more of a wild card from my point of view simply because I don't know a ton about his recruitment but really love his game.

Davis came out and said he is down to Arizona, IU and Texas. I've heard a bunch of different things here. Arizona has not been shy about the fact that Davis is not their first option. That doesn't mean they are taking off the heat, but have heard he is aware of that fact. Texas I'm not totally sure about but just seems to be IU and Zona due to the lack of Texas chatter.

Thanks for the updates. I feel pretty confident on Davis and somewhat confident with Cujo. Zero confidence in Alkins or Bridges. I could see a class of Gelon, Davis, Cujo and a couple other guys we haven't heard about from outta nowhere.

I think I touched on Yakwe recently in his thread. Looks like St. Johns. I'm ok with that after hearing about the troubles with Our Savior New American. 

 

Haven't seen a whole lot on Allen. I'll keep an eye out there.

Xavier Simpson may be an option in a case like this. We have to land a true PG in this class. imo. I'm not much for a CG being my floor general unless he's top 5 like Exum. I still miss my boy BC in the '15 class.

If we haven't been all that warm and fuzzy in Gordon's recruitment of late (supposition on my part) then I highly doubt a late push would be successful.  I've always had the feeling that we were never that high on Gordon's list, that mentioning our name periodically was more a thing of just being polite.
