Lindy's Sports IU Preseason #4

Recommended Posts

We do have Bielfeldt and Morgan which should help with interior depth.

I don't think the inside game will look even half as bad as last season.Crean even eluded to using the 3 guard set more sparingly.

Warm bodies.    One was not productive at another Big Ten school, the other is a freshman who's not really a post player.    We do not have depth in the post.  We have a few bodies.

I've seen Morgan play and he actually handles his self pretty well in the post.

My point was we shouldn't have to rely on Hartman and Yogi to defend the post this year.We had zero options last year.

Agreed, we are a very talented offensive team. If we are not forced to run sets. On the run, maybe one of the best. But, also, we are an unproven defensive unit. Based on kast season, a very poor one. Our team must dedicate themselves to getting more out of themselves, and learning the techniques needed.

I am so sick of the "we sucked last year so we are going to suck this year BS. This year we have an inside presence and we have new players who like to play defense, along with one of the best back courts in the country. I can't wait to see what we can do.

I'm so sick of the "well we're adding a true freshman big man who hasn't played a second at this level so that will solve most if not all our inside issues." Oh not to mention JBJ is a god awful defender, Troy still hasn't shown much to say he will be much defensively. Our point guard when be is locked in can be, but was off way too much last year. Rojo was just average. Some of you guys are acting like our defense is going to take some gigantic leap, when there isn't a ton of reason to think so.

But hey it is BS if you don't agree with it, right?

Alright guys, just ignore each other for awhile and not turn this into a bickering fest![/quot

Thanks JB, I love IU just like you! We shall see where the chips fall!

This is what I'm trying to say, and we both got blasted for it.  Last year is last year.  This year we look improved.  I like the ranking.

Thanks Josh, I truly believe we will be much improved.

optimism is good and there is reason to believe we will be a bit better defensively. We just have so far to go defensively to be a good team that I think most people are just thinking realistically; one player does not typically make a team go from one of the worst in college basketball to one of the best and to be a top four team and therefore a #1 seed, we need to be one of the better defensive teams and we were so far from that just last year with nearly the same lineup

agree in a year we went from a defense rated 47th to 214. Maybe in a year we can make a big jump from 214th to ? We have shown we can regress now lets see if we can make progress

its certainly possible but there were more variables that changed that year. We lost our two best defenders that year in Noah and Will and added some really poor defenders. Those poor defenders we added are still here. I don't even know who I would say from last years team is a good defender.

This.  The same starters that didn't give a crap about staying in front of anyone last year are still starters this year.  Beyond the personnel we were so atrocious at defensive fundamentals that it was sickening, those should've shown improvement over the course of the year and didn't.  We could be improved but I don't really see a true freshman that isn't named Anthony Davis causing this defense to make the astronomical leap necessary, and I don't think we have the coaching to do it either.
