X-Hoosier Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Exhibition game Sat November 5th vs Bellarmine. Tight game last year, finished 73-62 IU. [/url] We also sucked early on last year. Hopefully the returnees remember that. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER and mdn82 2 Quote

Top D2 program every year, and incredible fundamentals and IQ to help keep the game close. Now, IU sucked against them, but Bellarmine is a good team. I get the pleasure of watching them because they play in the same conference as the university my wife works at. mdn82, IUsafety, ALASKA HOOSIER and 3 others 6 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Really disappointed in the bottom of this schedule. The good: 3 teams in top 10The bad: 7 teams in KenPom 273+The ugly: 5 teams in KenPom 300+, 3 at 340+ Hopefully, that was just down years and some of those teams rise. If they don't we'll have a terrible OOC SOS again Class of '66 Old Fart, Hoosiers219, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote
X-Hoosier Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 And people wonder why I want at least 6 games against against top competition. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app gfunk69 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 It has little to do with the top end. There won't be many B1G teams that will play top teams like that. It's the bottom end. If there are a few more games in the 100-200 range, a few in the 201-300, and none in the 300+ range that's a top 20ish OOC SOS. Adding 2 more games against top 25ish teams will only do so much for you when you have 7, SEVEN games against 273+ teams. That's laughable! Are we preparing to play teams like Rutgers and Minnesota by these terrible noncon opponents? I guess it's just padding stats so when we go into conference play with an OOC SOS in the 8+ averaging 90 points a game with an average margin of victory of +25 it'll look good. Quote

I don't care what other teams are doing. Indiana needs to do their own thing. Play 6-8 power conference teams and keep the 250+ teams to everyone else.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

There is a bit of a balancing act, you need some easy wins but you need to be challenged too. We need to trim the fat on our OOC schedules. gfunk69, Hoosiers219 and Stuhoo 3 Quote

Even lower tier power conference teams will look better. Or look at teams in the Big East, MWC, or Gonzaga and BYU. Instead we are going to the SWAC and MEAC to fill our schedule.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

HoosierAloha Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I've posted for several years now that we need the following3-4 games against top 25 teams (home, neutral, or away)2-3 games against solid mid-majors or low power conference top 100-150 games 3-5 games against 151-2502 games max against 250+ teams We should never have more than half our schedule against 250+ teams. I get that things change year to year but that's just terrible. LIHoosier and IUsafety 2 Quote

bhaggard89 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Like I said before, schedule the other Indiana schools and you'll have plenty of teams on the schedule with a mid range RPI. Valpo- 31 IPFW- 74 Evansville- 92 Ball State- 159 Indiana St- 170 IUPUI- 191 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners It's crazy talk but why not play two games at home against other Indiana teams as part of the Crossroads Classic? I do really like that we're playing IPFW up in the Fort. The two for one with Evansville (home 2010/2013, away 2011) worked out well. I would like to see IU play in some areas with a large alumni base (Chicago, NYC, DC) or different areas around the state in the noncon. Also, like last season we are really dependent on doing well against the top or our RPI will be a seed or two lower than it should be. If we go 0fer against KU, UNC, and UL we are looking at an uphill battle again. Quote
