There are a couple sites I check for Indiana Athletic news. Inside the Hall, Btown Banners, SB Nation, Bleacher Report, and The Indy Star. I remember reading the Star and thinking who is this Terry Hutchens guy, wow he is a die hard. I loved his articles and loved the fact that he kept everyone up to date on everything Indiana. I am so glad that you are now apart of BtB.

One question - Will you continue to post on the other sites?

Nope. He's 100% ours :)

No interest in posting on any other site. And with as active as this message board community clearly is why would anyone want to be some place else? That's my take any way.

Glad to see you've landed on your feet in this new role. I am excited to see what you bring to the site. I like the pic of you in the Bahamas, although a shot of you with your five Indiana Sports Writer of the Year awards might be better! :) Out of curiosity, any chance of you landing a sixth award while you're writing here, or is the award only for those poor souls still peddling newspapers? Would be pretty cool to see you grabbing some more hardware while wearing a BTownBanners t-shirt!

Speaking of breaking stories, what kind of recruiting coverage can we expect? I know you've focused on game coverage in the past, but I'm hoping you'll be able to do some stuff on a lot of the recruits we're targeting. Anything in the works now?

Technically I'm still eligible for No.6 but it tends to be out of sight, out of mind. Six would be fun though as I'm tied for second all time in Indiana circles. Number 1 (Bob Hammel) is unreachable. I think he had 17.

No actually, Andy Graham has never won the award from the national association. I'm actually tied with the great Corky Lamm who was with the Indianapolis News in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

 

Bob Collins, the longtime sports editor of the Indianapolis Star, won it four times. 

 

The first time I won it I was at the awards presentation which is held annually in Salisbury, N.C. and Hammel was actually there because a buddy of his was been enshrined in the Hall of Fame. I've known Ham's for a long time and after the evening I asked him if we could have a picture together. He obliged and later whenever I would show that picture to anyone I would just casually say, "Yeah, between the two of us we've won that award 18 times.''
