I understand the cumulative argument but I disagree. I think 4-8 games is fair and we move on. I don't think dismissing him will deter any of the guys on this team from changing how they act moving forward.

 

I think we've established that game suspensions won't deter this group - time to try something else (harsher).

I have no actual knowledge if they did or did not but if I had to guess at some point at least a couple of them tried it.

 

The statement that I challenged said that "According to a poster on this board these guys were all doing it just didnt get caught".

 

I challenge that they ALL did it at all, and certainly question "were all doing it", implying an ongoing, habitual thing. That's a far cry from "at least a couple of them tried it".

If it is then ever single player has broken that team rule. Though, I'd say the real difference is that marijuana is a performance-enhancing drug, same reason it's a banned substance for Olympic athletes. 

 

I would challenge the assertion that Vic, Will, Jordy, Christian (and) Cody did it (smoked weed), but just failed to get caught. That's bordering on libel - just because someone posted it on this (or any forum) does not mean that it's true.

 They're public figures. There would have to be "Actual malice" in order for it to be libel. 

 

C-wat was definitely smoking pot.  Vic and Will were definitely getting drunk around campus. Cant speak for the others.  It's one thing to engage in those activities like most college students, quite another to drive drunk or get caught with 30 grams, I mean, Jesus, 30 grams is a lot of pot for one person. Either DD is a heavy heavy smoker, or he was dealing, or he was getting a lot of people high.  

I have friends who hung with C-Wat and can back up that he did. They said they had smoked with Vic too and I don't really have a reason to doubt them but, who knows? Everyone has stories.

30 grams is a usual legal punishment threshold because it's approximately an ounce and an ounce is the standard "intent to sell" amount. It's not outrageous to have an ounce for personal purposes (great deals if you buy in bulk) but more than that the law starts to make assumptions.

The fact that there have been no reports of Crean out recruiting for 2015 tells me these guys are not going to be kicked off the team. Nobody despises an open scholly like Crean. He would give those scholarships to random guys from Texas and Arizona if he had them. He has done it before!

Getting hard to keep track of all the comments but I know there have been several concerning Thomas Bryant and what his mother must be thinking. And what about all the other mothers, fathers, guardians, high school coaches, etc., of kids we're trying to recruit? What's the message they're hearing and reading? May not be readily apparent in every instance and may be extremely subtle, but you can't tell me that our off-court issues of the past couple of years aren't going to have a negative impact on recruiting. At the very least, other coaches will certainly be using it against us. And the way things have gone, maybe we should be more worried about recruits who do want to come to IU. Are they coming for the right reasons or the wrong reasons?
