Didn't we play good bit of zone in the second half? It might have just been the top guys switching but I think we did play zone last night. Even the shot before the half from NW I believe we were in a zone which is why their player was basically open in the middle

We played in a zone in the 2nd half.  Thought the boys looked inactive as opposed to the first half.  We were flying all over the place in the man.  In the zone we sit back and are reactive.  Not a fan of that in general.

Bucks - Yes we played something that resembled a zone last night. If we had played it all night, I'm guessing the end result of the game might have been different.

I actually don't mind zone when it extends a little bit and is active. Ours basically packs in the lane and doesn't move. Good strategy for Jr. High basketball. High level college...notsamuch.

It just felt like there was more intensity when they played man.  As soon as the zone was in, then a wide open 15 footer at the FT line.  I'd like to see them stay predominantly man from here on out.

We challenged almost every shot in man-to-man last night.

 

We challenge nothing, absolutely nothing in the zone.  Unfortunately we haven't seen the last of the zone.

I would prefer man to man with a zone thrown in every once in awhile to throw the opponent off.  This is if we can be the least bit effective in a zone. 

 

Times to use a zone

- If you're getting killed by one player/play

- Out of a TO when the opponent draws up a play against man

- When pressing

 

I'm just afraid we will see the man to zone switch mid possession that leaves a shooter wide open or a cutter unguarded to the paint.

I think  Crean and the IU coaching staff watched Rocky the movie right before starting the season . We played crappy zone defense and such all year long then Bam !  right when the other teams least expect it we go man to man . [ You know switch to a right handed fighter after ...... err um.  Carry on. ]

I think the staff plays zone, because they have not figured out how to beat one. Just sayin!
