Of note:

IU has expanded its recruiting on the East Coast, which explains part of the expense. An IU spokesman said another factor is that the university no longer owns its own airplanes. While the athletic department paid for use of the planes, it wasn't as expensive as using an outside company for charter planes, the spokesman said.

Is it really that bad between him and the local coaches? If so we're in real trouble.

I know there are rumors of a few players telling them they were not even interested before he really even got started recruiting them.

I think he just rubs some people the wrong way. One thing he does do after games he is recruiting at, he makes sure and tells the kid what they could still improve upon. So players really like that, and some players seem to want everyone to bow down and kiss their feet. I personally know that there are kids that really love coach Crean and then I have read stories of other recruits who can stand him. Same could be said about a lot of coaches that have been here at IU. Hopefully the situation between our coach and Indiana high school players/coaches will never be as bad as it was when Davis was here

Will give Crean credit for recognizing Dominic James as a talent when Davis didnt think he could play at IU.

Not only did Davis say James wasn't IU material, he didn't think he was D1 material. I saw Dominic James player several times when I was in high school and he was a great talent then and even better in college

I know recruiting is national now and we cant have a roster full of Indiana kids but every trip to the east coast is probably $5000 easy round trip or more with a private jet. Gotta do better than a few plus 100 recruits.

Edit: Maybe just send out a bunch more text messages??
