Max Hoetzel starts a petition

this is idiotic. Why can't u show compassion to both? U still eat them. I've been to those pens, it's like torture for five months. Even Taiwanese prison camps allow u to turn around. Your generic and obtuse statements have no thought. You're just trying to reach the masses by sounding flashy.

Ok, but really....how do you know that this is torture to the hogs?  I'm sure I wouldn't like being in there, but I'm a human.  I have different thoughts and feelings than a pig.  Trying to project human emotions into pigs is obtuse.  For all we know, it may be comforting for pigs to be held tightly like that.  We have no idea.

When I started this thread ..I didnt think it would start pig wars 1. Just thought it was cool some of our players are investing theirselves in the greater good. I respect that! Even though I dont agree with the cause doent mean I dont think that is a great thing

Some people feel the need to make a ruckus of everything, nothing new here hahaha

I would have to do a lot more research on this matter to even consider signing a petition let alone having a opinion on this. I am almost always going to support the farmers though unless its I see it is totally inhumane to the animals

99% of pork in this country is raised this way. If you really want to make an impact do it with the pocket book. Don't buy pork in the store seek out small local farmers who raise hogs outdoors. Much more expensive but worth it.

As someone who grew up on a small family farm where we didn't use those practices I signed the petition. There are certainly two sides to the issue, and like most everything in life, the decision isn't clear cut.

Just got back. I know a bit about this topic because I have a lot of friends from the new jersey legislator. It was a big deal because Doug Christie opposed this bill despite93% (yup 93%) approval rating to pass the bill ( so he could supposedly look good for the Iowa primary). In their independent study they concluded that animal were being tortured because they couldn't turn around 24/7 and not allowed to leave at all. They have recorded evidence of them screaming in pain and shifting left to right, trying to leave. I get that farmers get a bad break, but it's inhuman.

I am compassionate, I fry my pen-raised bacon slowly so that it isn't burned. I favor compassionate slaughtering of all livestock. The slit throat method works best!

Agreed; feel the same about donating to starving countries when we have starving people in the US, in your own neighborhood...

Amen to that. After we get done taking care of all our vets and others who are disadvantaged in this country THEN and only then should we consider money to other countries. Just my opinion but I'm partial towards those who put their lives on the line to protect me and my freedoms.

Boy, would you be one sad panda if you saw what some of our international funds go towards...

I'm of the opinion that I don't feel where I should be telling a farmer how he should do business.  He doesn't tell me how to do my job why should I tell him how to do his?

I do agree on your statement regarding farmers but I would say that it is somewhat cruel.

My father-in-law used to raise hogs and I've spent many a day helping him. He didn't raise them in confinement crates. He felt it led to disease.

I think 93% also constitutes republicans as well, but nice spin. The more u keep typing the more I realize that I'm trying to converse with the village idiot. People who aim to label other people (without any proof nor justification) just so they can get their way are sad and pathetic . Take care , and I hope
U grow up one day to have a big boy discussion.

Typical lib response, discredit, name call, act superior. Grow up kid, get a JOB and then we can have a discussion!

I agree 100%. I had an interesting discussion with a vet the other day. He mentioned how he appreciates how people thank him for his service, but he also acknowledged that he wished that people would follow up by asking "tell me about your service " . What u realize is the type of psychological problems these kids deal with and how transitioning to get jobs is rather difficult. That needs to change.
