Jordan Fuchs to play?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know what took so long to get him on basketball team? I cant see him getting minutes but who knows anymore

He got hurt in the Purdue game. Crean said he would've taken a look earlier but he had to rehab.

From the (free) Peegs article:

Coming out of high school Fuchs reported 15 Division I offers for basketball. Near the end of his senior year NYCHoops.net ranked him as one of the top 10 players in New York, and Maurice Wingate from that site added these scouting notes at the time:

Rather than call Fuchs the garbage man, we'd rather refer to him as The Eraser; it's cooler. The senior small forward from Christ the King, who has a scholarship to play football at UConn, has always been the guy that cleans up the mess whether it's on defense or on offense. A banger in the paint, Fuchs has the thankless and selfless job of making his team and teammates look good. In addition to his tenaciousness at defending and rebounding, Fuchs has an under-appreciated mid-range game on offense.

We sure could use his "strengths" as outlined above on the boards even if it is to give starters a few minutes R&R.

What do we think his timeline will be? Can't imagine him seeing the court tonight on the road or even Minnesota. Next home game after that, Purdewdew? But how much practice time has he had, and do we even know what skills he posses now? Just a few questions, do not want to get hopes up to high.

He's only been practicing for about a week. Tough to adjust to the college game with a week's worth of practice.

Let the man get in there a few minutes to block out with that football body strength and rebound.

He's an athlete that can time rebounds and frankly likes contact-no soft play here!

Just once, I would like to see you make a comment and not take a backhand at anyone.

Wouldn't ever make a disparaging comment in seriousness; sarcasm and facetiousness gets lost in translation. I'll do better to make it clear.

I'm honestly surprised no one here looked at this as an indicator of a terrible coach. That's my honest response. I'm just curious to sere if he will play tonight.

The only thing I don't like the feel of is why we are wasting valuable scholarships on project centers ever year and then this cat comes off the football team and take over. I mean, I have almost no doubt Fuchs will be more effective than them but it just sheds light on the other 500 big power forwards or centers that were lightly serviceable that should be on this roster rather than the annual 7 foot non ball player.

Other than that, send in the dolphin muscle (Pixar reference, Shark Tale)

I don't see how having another talented player would hurt us? He may only be 6'6" but he can jump, rebound, and play defense that's what we need fellas I mean we all know that we aren't going far in the tourney by just getting by like we have been. This could be a big game changer curious to see
