Calipari said Memphis was where he wanted to be, a week before leaving for UK. Nick Saban was the Miami Dolphins head coach and said he would not be coaching Alabama, but look where he is now.

I'm not saying he would, but it's not unusual for coaches to say something like that and then leave.

I know that I just thought it was interesting. Remember when left the Gators to coach the Magic only to return to Florida a few days late. Just informing you guys of the comments

My very first comment with regard to journalism had nothing to do with what it said about Crean, it was fully in response to the piss poor writing of today's 'journalistic professional'. If you chose to actually read something posted, rather than have your canned reply at the ready, you would have known that. You didn't care and don't so you still have this contrived notion in your head.

Understood. I've taken my fair share of long breaks from the board. Gets ridiculous every now and then and its better to leave for a bit rather than get sucked in by the downward spiral of thought that goes on.

Crean has this year (and probably next with the administration) to get us contending again----I hope and think he will get it done---- but if he doesn't Stevens may be an excellent back-up plan.

Though I have been frustrated at times, I do think Crean should get to see Yogi through his senior year. If he can't get anything done with having a McD's AA at PG for four years, then he's history.

Stevens will never be a backup plan. If and when he's ready to come to IU, I think you take him. Of course that's my opinion and watching how Indiana performed as a consensus #1 team and with 2 lottery picks, gives me enough information to know what's Crean potential as our coach. I don't need to see him fulfill the remainder of his contract to know where his peak will be. He will never assemble a team that loaded ever again.

None being greater than to continue to see Crean keep underachieving at Indiana. We can suck just as bad as with a new coach from any level with the same aspirations as we have now. Except with hope; the new one can actually coach.

We can't say definitively one way or the other, because we're not him.  The only way we'd know is to pick up the phone and make the call.  We offer a coach everything needed to be successful.

There is no opening at Indiana, and there won't be one soon. Dakich is sure showing himself these days. Shaka Smart? What a blowhard. If Indiana is looking, I'd hope sights are set a little higher. Coach K anyone? This is Indiana after all.

This is such ridiculous crap. Newspapers are dying because this is the kind of "analysis" given. 12 year olds in Indiana could tell you Stevens would be a possibility.

K ain't coming, Stevens ain't coming (probably), Donovan ain't coming (oh God I wish he would)...Marshall, Miller (Dayton) maybe...and I like them both.
I really hope Crean improves and succeeds. I just don't want to settle for mediocrity!
