IU vs Louisville Game Thread

Recommended Posts

factors in IU's favor:

this game is in December...Pitino coached teams peak in late Feb/early March...RickyVanP teams yearly lose focus on teams they are heavily favored in (-8 vs IU)...and reap the wrath of their fans this time of year...it's almost like clockwork...

this UofL team is ranked #6...IU seems to love the attention of playing against top notch teams, and has proven themselves to be giant killers...

these UofL players aren't the same team that won it all a couple of years ago...they aren't proven, they are young, they can't shoot, and as others have mentioned...they are too cocky this early on...

factors in UofL's favor:

this game isn't in Assembly Hall...IU's first game away from Assembly Hall is sure to cause problems for the young guns...

this IU team is prone to losing leads, and losing focus for mini-stretches...and that cannot happen tomorrow night...IU will need to compete for 40 minutes tomorrow night to win against an uber-aggressive defense...

these IU players aren't battle tested against a full court press...we will need the officials to call the fouls...and there will be a crap ton of them...but will need to beat the press despite the hacks...

This is the defense of Louseyville

Interesting analysis and helpful in scheming your d to fit their strengths and weaknesses. This type of information is valuable if you use it correctly and your opposition plays as % say. I'm a big fan of this and hope Crean is valuing this type of information as some other high profile coaches do.

I would think you could get the BigTen network anywhere if you have Dish or Direct.Dish bundles several channels in a sport package.I even have the $EC network now.YUCK!

Not if you love the best college football. Hands down there's no conference even close. If I didn't despise the OSU I would almost feel bad for what's gonna happen to them against the Tide. They're in my top 5 most hated; always cheat, cheat some more and Thad can't win the big one.

Ive always thought of O$U as the Bigs version of Ky.

Except they never win the big one.

I've watched or been to every uofl game so far this year (lots of friends are uofl fans) and I have to say I have not been very impressed. Yes they are one of the best defensive teams in the country but they can go stretch's without being able to buy a bucket. In the Cleveland state game they were 1-20 from the 3. The guards are overrated on offense and the backcourt is not very deep. If Indiana can break their press and shoot good from 3 then I honestly think we have a decent shot at winning the game.

I know that Troy has been erratic so far this season but as someone mentioned earlier he likes the bright lights.

I really think he could have a big game against the Cards especially if they play man.I really cant see Blackshier being able to guard him on the baseline.

I think an early indicator in this game will be how tightly the refs are call things, especially hand-checking on the perimeter. If they call it tight, I like it for IU. If they let Louisville play and let their guards/wings be really physical with Yogi, JBJ and RoJo then I'll be a little worried.

this is a good take...

in my personal opinion...they will call it tight one half, loosely the other...my gut tells me the first half will be in IU's favor...the 2nd will favor UofL...and this game  will be within 3 points going into the last minute...

but then again...I ate White Castles today and my gut is all kinds of messed up right now...

If they're calling it tight, we will win. We have such an advantage if we can get foul calls.
