selfish

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone else had a problem with Williams not passing ahead to JB on the steal and jam? As an old coach I would have sat him down, after a lecture about selfishness. This is the play where TW almost ran over the ref. Not a team first play in my book.

He had a bad play. If that's the worst thing you saw and have to focus on in that game then you weren't watching closely enough.

Performance-wise, if half our players had done as well as Troy did, even if he shouldn't have always been going for the dunk, then we would have won that game.

I mean, the guy had 9 boards (most on the team, 1/3 of our total), shot 57% with 8 FGs, made all three of his free throws. Unless your name is Yogi then I don't think any players get to feel like they had a much better night than he did.

What chemistry issue? This team gels extremely well together.

I'm confused too. I think we have pretty great chemistry on this team actually. If we were a meth lab, we are doing great work with our P2P, 40 percent aqueous methylamine, and alcohol but we're just missing the mercury amalgram to make a high quality product. We're trying to make do with a platinum oxide reduction and it just doesn't cut it. The chemistry is there, but the ingredients are wrong.

BTW mercury amalgram in this analogy is "defense/high quality post play".

Not arguing, just opinion.I guess I should say potential issues. But do you think that this kind of thing COULD lead to chemistry issues? I do. Bud nipping.....its just what I would have ( and have done) as a coach. No one has to agree, we all have our opinions.

Hey! Don't talk about bud around here! This is a no bud zone!

Well, we are in an Indiana forum...

Sure, if this keeps happening it could lead to chemistry issues. That it happened once? Probably not.

And comparing the games that JBJ and TW had? I'm not surprised or bothered that he may not have thought JBJ could pull through. It's easy for us to have a problem with it because it went poorly. If the play had ended looking like this we would be heaping praise on TW for it.

It's the same issue as Yogi's hero ball toward the end. When no one on the court seems capable of playing well at the moment, can you blame the players who are having good games for not trusting them?

I agree with you Parker... I hope it isn't foreshadowing but I didn't like what I perceived as some selfish plays throughout the game (& the season so far).... I hope it's nothing more than a coincidence but it is a point I am worried about.

You make some excellent points. Troy played with heart even though I never saw him slap the court or grandstand after making his highlight reel plays. Maybe the rest of the team may take notice.

I saw and wondered the same thing Parker---but then I also saw Troy make some good passes too.  Not a big enough sample size yet with Troy and Stan to see exactly how they are going to mesh with all the shooters.  Part of the dynamic is they both specialize in the drive which may seem selfish to some at times---but that is how they get their points and draw fouls. Hope they continue to balance it out and look for the open man--- while staying aggressive.

In Southern Indiana ---most meth labs do not use high quality products. Instead--they use Pseudoephedrine from cold medicine--- Lithium strips from Lithium batteries ---Anhydrous Ammonia from farmers---and Hydrochloric Acid from drain cleaner--- and starting fluid.

You can imagine what they look like after putting that in their bodies for a few years!

Like UK fans with no teeth!

Most are going to say this is nitpicking, but this play was just one of many where Williams comes off as selfish. It's obvious he didn't make the pass because he wanted the emphatic dunk. I'm not normally one to overreact to something like this, but I really thought it was a bad move. So ya, I did have a problem with it.

No problem with it here if you got the open lane dunk it Troy trying to pass to James in that situation is a turnover waiting to happen I'll take 2 over them getting an extra possession not that it would have mattered any way

Troy has to help us inside this year----he is going to be on the floor-----that vertical needs to be put to good use for not only dunking but also for rebounding---shot blocking---shot altering---and defense.

He's only been back a few games----I predict we will see his game continue to grow.
