After watching the video I agree with you. Is Brooks really trying to kick the dude or trying to save his knee? If this becomes a recurring theme then sure you can fault him but that looks like he's trying to not snap his knee.

I'm guessing it wasn't even a conscious move. That's a panicked "OH ****" reaction to awkwardly falling, if you ask me.
