Maryland is B1G best chance for a deep run in March in my opinion

They’ll probably lose in the Sweet 16. The entire conference could easily go out in the first round. That’s how middle of the road it is.

Depends on matchups. They could easily get multiple teams in the sweet 16

It’s almost as if a few weeks ago the B1G decided to neutralize home court advantage to get the disparity out of the headlines.

Bad thing is Indiana stinks on the road regardless.

They had to do something. They didn’t want to be left out of the Top 10. Now they’ll likely have only one team in the Top 15 for yet another week. People want to say the AP is meaningless, but there is more perception pull from it than the NET. And it isn’t even close. If people gave a damn about the NET, they’d put that number next to teams on TV.

But yet each broadcast regardless of conference never misses an opportunity to show the teams NET ranking and how many top 50 net teams are in each conference. AP is meaningless to some. I could care less about perception pull of the AP.

Perception is incredibly important. From recruits to how a game is officiated.

That doesn’t mean anything. The perception received from the AP poll is and always will be greater than the NET, RPI, Coaches Poll etc until something else shows up next to a teams name on the score banner.

I’ve been wondering about this quietly. B1G is getting a ton of respect for its depth. Is it possible that it’s not 10 really good teams, but instead the parity is just the fact that the conference has a lot of just okay teams?

I think it is definitely true the teams are all just okay. Problem is that is the case for all of college basketball.

I mean the BIG did win both the Gavitt Games and the ACC-BIG Challenge. Plus had multiple holiday tournament winners including Michigan and Maryland. I don't see a team that would get to a final four on a normal year, but this isn't a normal year and I think multiple teams from the BIG could luck themselves into the final four because of the lack of top end power in college basketball.
