Some French guys collectively known as le moyne has stuck with UConn for the better part of 13min.

Also, mcneely is a good shooter.

Wednesday night trivia.  LeMoyne's coach, Nate Champion, played high school ball in Logansport, IN and A. J. Dancler from Southport HS is a sophomore on the team.

Halftime in Minneapolis.

In the first half Minnesota made a total of THREE shots from the floor; they shot 3-21 with eight turnovers.

So it’s 23-14 North Texas at the half.

Terrible doesn’t even begin to describe just how bad Minnesota is.

Trojans hang on 98-95.

Two inexplicable plays toward the end ...

First, USC makes free throws to go up 96-93 with just over 7 seconds to play -- but doesn't foul on ensuing possession.

Second, on that ensuing possession -- UT Arlington kid drives to bucket, hits layup to make it 96-95 with .06 to play. Have no clue what he was thinking.

Yea, he’s really good. I’d imagine 1 and done. He kind of reminds me of Luke Recker. Recker was probably a better ball handler, but I’m getting old. Seems like a good defender too.

On a side note they did that sit down with Hurley…and damn is he smug. He certainly has earned it. They’re easily the best program/coach in college basketball and I don’t even see 2nd place on the horizon. I’m pretty sure I am going to hate UConn for the next twenty years.

It is that bad of a job with 18 teams in the conference now.

Agree.

It is a bad job - freezing cold during most of the school year, outdated facilities, little local recruiting, no recent history of sending players to the next level, and lousy NIL.

However, other B1G basketball programs - Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and even Minnesota football have shown that with good coaching  and well-evaluated portal pickups from small schools, a mid-tier B1G team can be put together. Ben Johnson has badly failed on that front.

They are a fun watch again this year, but look forward to them playing some real competition too. Curious what Hurley said in the sit down, lol… I am also not convinced Hurley goes to the NBA any time soon, maybe ever. He has said he doesn’t want to coach in his 60s, so thankfully I think we’d only have a decade at most of hating UConn with him running the show. Unless he gets a mind blowing NBA opportunity, I don’t see him walking away from what he’s built now that it’s rolling. I don’t see him joining a dumpster fire NYK or Nets organization.

I think it might be tougher in basketball. At least in football, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska all have history of winning in football right now. Minnesota has been a decent program for quite awhile now and have been good under Fleck. Minnesota in basketball though... The same can't be said outside of a few years. But it always just takes the right coach. Johnson isn't that guy obviously. But it's tough in basketball. And especially in a conference with basketball brands like Indiana, UCLA, Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oregon. I mean the same can be said in football. But you're right, a head coach means a lot. There is a fine line between what a good coach can do with less and what a bad coach can do with more. Right now Minnesota is on the wrong side of the graph with bad coach/bad talent.

Curious what Hurley said in the sit down, lo

I was tired and a couple manhattans in so this is a loose paraphrase but essentially “we’re two time national champs. We’re the best, everybody knows we’re the best,  so everybody wants to knock us off.” Might’ve been in response to how he motivated his team or something…Either way he’s not wrong.

I’m sure they’ll have growing pains with all the new players. They did in his first title season. I wouldn’t bet against him on figuring it out.
