When do the suspensions start?

Recommended Posts

Yes. And the first 2 regular season games. Everyone will be available for the SMU game. Hopefully.

Thanks...I hate to say it, but thats BS. Those guys need to feel the shame of possibly costing us a game or two. I know I'm being an a$$hole, but they need to be taught a true lesson. Everyone there needs to be taught a lesson.

It's a tough spot. Stan and Troy IMO definitely need longer suspensions but at the same time giving them time away from the basketball team is only going to give them more time to get into trouble. From what I have seen, I would not feel confident in them staying out of more trouble if they aren't constantly doing basketball related activities. They should've dropped the hammer the first time

If their ability to resist smoking pot and partying is so tenuous that they won't be able to do it if they are suspended and away from team activities for a period of a few weeks, then why in the name of all that's good and holy were they extended a scholarship offer in the first place? Kick them off the team and get them away from the program if that's the case.

And I'm not at all doubting that it is, by the way...

Careful what you wish for, when Kellen Lewis was kicked off the football team for his actions, those actions became MUCH worse until he then transferred as he had no shot at coming back.

Crean knows the players. Maybe mentally they can't handle a 10 game suspension. His suspension could be due to the players and what will work best to turn them around.

This, in and of itself, is a joke. No player will take missing 2 exhibition games and games against such basketball powerhouses as Mississippi Valley State and Texas Southern as serious punishment.

As Dakich says, the players keep score. They know.

And they continue in the behavior that is destructive to both themselves and the storied Hoosier program.

I think Stan needs to sit until B1G play at the minimum. But that won't happen.

I agree. I see Stan as one who simply won’t change. He’s been involved with both underage alcohol and drugs. What a fine, upstanding ambassador for the Hoosier basketball program he’s turned out to be.

Until Crean puts some teeth in these "punishments", the behavior will not change.

A 4 game suspension followed with a "you will be kicked off the team and out of the school" on another infraction will scare the hell out of any kid.

You would like to think so, but I work with young men this age everyday who face much worse than that, if they  chose to use an illegal substance. Sometimes they just don't get it, really just don't get it. Apparently  IU needs to institue some sort of substance abuse program for their student atheletes. You can't hold their hold hands but you can give them leg up.

If they can't handle actually being held accountable for their actions instead of a slap on the wrist and a "don't do it again", then we have some very serious issues.

Stan failed drug tests last summer and this summer, and got arrested in between.  He should be kicked off the team, period.

Agree 100%. Then tell the rest if they screw up they'll join him.
