Rick Bozich Watches a 2.5 Hour IUBB Practice!

Recommended Posts

I'm in the small minority that said to give Hartman a chance...just sayin...

*pats self's back*

Edit: I'll take back the back pat if Bball4iu was talking about Burton, but I need confirmation!

Sorry to be confused ..mr. Burton is the player I am talking about:)

Great for Burton!

Showing my Southern Indiana bias---but he's not only smart but he is a solid player that went to a great D2 program that rarely lost while he was there.

And---a little known fact---he is also a good shooter! He led BNL High School in 3 point percentage and was a 40% 3 point shooter at Bellarmine (40-100 for his career).  He's a hard worker who will push the scholly boys.

Great to see an Indiana boy live out the dream of playing for IU!

Good thing to know that Burton is practicing well, but I doubt he sees significant time this year  during actual games. But nice to know that if worse comes to worse, he will be able to come in and compete and add something

If he's "Jeff Howard with a jumper", I'd be thrilled, and Ryan Burton will definitely get minutes.

I don't see it. Howard only played because we had no one else. I think burton will be behind HMP, DD, and Holt. He barely played in Canada and those were exhibition games...

He played because Hanner and Davis weren't ready to play yet. If Hanner had been performing like everyone had hoped when he was recruited, Howard would not have been playing.

Jeff Howard did not play "because we had no on else". He played, at times during crunch time instead of Noah Vonleh, Hanner Perea, and Devin Davis because he understood defensive principles like positioning and help side defense quite well.
Ryan Burton and Nick Zeisloft are getting their MBAs at the Kelley School. That means that they are both plenty smart, and it betcha they grasp those principles really well too.
As I've said previously, I LOVE it when we get smart, squared away kids on the team. Juwan Morgan and OG are big time in that category.

OMG, our insider is saying a walkon is working his way into the top 5 and we are excited about it. This is year 7 folks. Walkons should not be playing at Indiana University unless its senior night or blow outs. Speaking of senior night, it seems many of you would be happy to save the award granted to Hartman and just send him packing. If we can somehow get Yogi to go pro and get Hanner deported because of his Canadien visa problems, we could go two straight years without celebrating one on our team. Records are made to be broken even if you just set them. Lots of new traditions...well we still have U2 before games as Creans addition.

i love this place, these articles are awesome. Thanks for sharing, you know sometimes you dont have time to go find em.

And that's the primary purpose of this place. A one stop shop for everything IU. Our members are crazy at finding these stories from all over. ESPECIALLY on the recruiting front!

We've had barely a week of practice and one person is saying that Burton has had a few good practices and all of a sudden he is in the top 5? I just don't see it. When it really comes down to it would you rather have a player like Hartman or Thomas Bryant? Would it be more important to have senior night or a celebration at Assembly Hall for a Big Ten Championship? Everyone here wants to win, but are we really THAT worried about losing someone like Hartman? Winning takes sacrifices. The bright side of Crean over signing, players have to go out and do WORK. They have to compete or find another place to play. Of course I don't want players being showed the door or anything, but the best players will play and the best players will stay

Stop nitpicking, Kepner. The information is mighty interesting!

Bb4iu; one more question if I might:

Is Burton's rise largely a product of surprising achievement by Ryan, or surprising lack of achievement by some in our top eight?

The rise of BB4IU is quite inpressive lol. Members were going at him with pitch forks a few months back and now he has body guards! Love it lol

BB4IU has earned his stripes! A fantastic asset to Btown Banners.

I agree, but as I've said in the past, relationships die, managers & players graduate and connections can be lost. Always take EVERYTHING you read on these message boards with a grain of salt :). But yes, he's earned his stripes so far!

Like our walk-ons! I've also heard some good things about Nate Ritchie too. Kid has hops!

I feel like a broken record but this is why I have repeatedly said we should have had 2 open schollies (April and Priller) and given Ritchie and Burton 1 year schollies instead once we missed on all our targets. It would have solved a lot of problems by doing things that way. Oh well. It's going to get worked out one way or another.

What if you were Hartman? What if you were Hartman's family? How would you feel then?
