Not singling you out, but Gunner has been pretty damned impressive. I know the IU fans are inclined to give him hell, but if any real man would've been there and dealt w what Coach Wilson was shoveling, that real man would've taken a swing at Wilson too. That lead to Kiel leaving. Again, I agree (and so does Gunner) that he made immature choices, but CKW was the reason he left here.

Unfamiliar with the situation, can you explain?

I thought it was something about Mr. and Mrs. Kiel being unhappy that Dusty wasn't starting every game since, you know, he's their son and he was obviously the best QB on the team.

I don't have any insider knowledge, but it seemed like a classic case of "Hey coach, why isn't my kid playing more?" Then you have to factor in Wilson's tendency to be a douchebag when people disagree with him and bam…the player in question transfers and his brother decommits.

Another game where we lack discipline and simply do not look like a well-coached team.  I see CKW raging against the refs on the field, then whatever he said post-game about the fans...man, look at yourself and your own staff.  Do better, coach 'em up better.  Instill better focus & discipline, call better plays, etc.

But whatever.  I'm not even mad.  Just really, really disappointed.  Feels like another 5-7 season in the making.

Not good when the defense knows what you are going to do before you snap the ball. Yeah blame the fans.

“I think it was discouraging them a little bit because we were calling out the plays they were going to run all the time,” Farrand said. “The film study helped, we knew what was going on and I think that is what led to us having such a good defensive game.”

That's pretty much what I had always assumed.

Dusty wasn't turning out as well as he was expected to. Wilson came in with his attitude and coaching style of being a hard ass. When Gunner came in, Wilson tried to use that mentality, kind of like military, of breaking a player down. He berated Dusty to Gunner, and Gunner to Dusty. The comments eventually got to Gunner and he confronted CKW, who pushed Gunner. Gunner took a swing and missed, but it was done at that point. I'll be the first to admit I'm biased, knowing the family and having graduated from Columbus East. But, hearing that story from multiple people on the team, and the family, I tend to believe it. Coupled with other stories from that time shared by other (different) sources, I'm not a CKW fan. Please note that I'm not a muck raker trying to stir things up. I've stated from CKW's first questionable interactions what I knew (wanting to remove Hep's rock, being mad that he couldn't have Michelob Ultra in his office) that I'm not a fan if him personally, but support his effort and respect what he's trying to do.

When that starts happening the play calling is just a little bit predictable.  Wow.

In an after game interview, Maryland's FARRAND said:

Evidently our films show what we do differently in lining up for each play and Maryland picked it up!

If anything like that is true I find it hard to believe Wilson is still at IU. Not doubting you because crazy happens but you just cannot do that today, even in football.

Hope this team can turn things around this year but 2 bad losses are already draining any hope for the season. It is early and it is a crazy year but Indiana under Wilson has not typically seemed to be playing a lot better by seasons end.

Completely understand the disbelief- if I heard it from someone else, I'd be doubtful also.

The worst thing about this is that when talking to an Alumni Association bigshot about why Bill Mallory was canned, he replied, "he just couldn't get us to a major bowl." since then, neither DiNardo, Cameron, Hoeppner, Lynch, nor Wilson have even taken IU football to a level anywhere near the Mallory era. Dumping Doug Mallory obviously didn't help the defense, Wilson is the problem
Now I would wager that the jerks that presume 'to know what we need' would love to see a winning season!
Let's quit pretending to be Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Harvard, etc..., and gat back to recruiting ALL of Indiana, but first let's kick Wilson's loud ass down the road!

What are the realistic odds Wilson is let go at the end of the year?

Well Crean still has his job so I'd say it's not likely Wilson loses his.

Well if he has another 5-7 year I highly doubt he is gone. I think he should be, but won't. Because we'll just be "one step away" like we always are in football
