Mike Davis returns to Assembly Hall

It looks like the Hoosiers will face Texas Southern sometime this season.

All it takes is a stretch of games when things finally click — as Davis knows from his 2002 Indiana squad — and he constantly reminds his players (and "recruits") as much as he can.

 

2013-14 IN REVIEW: 19-15 overall, 12-6 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (tied for second), won SWAC Tournament, lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament (first four) to Cal Poly.

 

Davis did about all he could to make up for a dreadful SWAC schedule. The Tigers will play Indiana, Baylor, Tennessee, Auburn, Kansas State and New Mexico State.

I really think people will cheer for Davis. The guy was extremely likeable. And of anything, the Crean haters will probably give Davis a standing ovation just for the hell of it.

He took Knight's team to a Championship then fizzled out very quickly. Any knowledgeable IU fan certainly wouldn't call Davis, a coach who couldn't make it at UAB and is now at Texas Southern, a better coach than Crean. But then again, nothing surprises me anymore

He was a likable guy...except when he blamed the fanbase for the team's struggles.  Since then I've had no respect for him.  If I was at the game I wouldn't boo because that's lowlife, but I certainly wouldn't applaud.

That sums it up perfectly for me. Mike Davis taking that team to the championship game is the reason I ended up at IU, so I can't hate the guy. But, everything after that was such a depressing train of soul-crushing terribleness that I can't like him either.

I think he will get some applause early on, and then when ole Mike loses his cool over call mid way through the first half...

 

then...then you will hear some fun Mike Davis chants from the student section that will carry over to the rest of the Hall...

I certainly hope for the the sake of my sanity along with the other admins and mods of this site that this particular game IU wins easy... I might have to shut the site down for a couple days if Mike Davis comes into Assembly Hall and beats the Hoosiers...

I think the average student at IU will not know enough about Davis to boo. They will know he took us to our last title game. That is what they know. So I would expect a respectful environment with hostility only if he does something outlandish.
