I do not pretend to know anything at all. But, I tend to agree with aloha. I do not know his academic standing, but his family seems to be big on academics and degree oriented.

I swear this is said about every single player lol. Good golly. We should all hope OG has a season that makes him a Top 5 pick.

Fwiw, OG's Dad is a professor at Lincoln University. I think that may be where the stems from with OG. To your point, it'll be a basketball decision.

I just don't understand people wanting players to stay when they should leave for the NBA. Like that is a positive. Especially for someone in OG's position. That could be big for recruiting. To have a player from outside the Top 250 go in the lottery.

I hear you, but I think it's as simple as they want them playing for their team and aren't looking long term like that.

I want him to be a lotto pick with a degree from IU. We have had two of those in the past five years. How many schools can say they produce lotto picks and those picks leave with a verifiable education?

He can get a degree anytime he wants.

I know it's crazy talk in the era of one and give me my money but I like players who stick around and earn a degree.  I also care about how good Indiana University men's basketball team will be.  We can say how much it will help recruiting by the staff recruiting a kid outside the top 250 and having him drafted in the first round.  I agree that's really cool but again I prefer the staff being able to sell the family on turning the young man into a man, earning his degree, AND getting drafted in the lottery.  I guess what I'm saying is if we had a million Oladipo's I would be extremely happy.

So preparing someone for a professional athlete without a degree is not turning them into a "man?"

C'mon X, you've been doing really well, posting relevant content and not stirring the pot.  Don't start now.

I'm just saying. We should be wanting OG to be leaving after this year. Degree or not. Him and Bryant should be hopefully leaving as lottery picks. I'm not worried about them getting a degree. That is their choice. I care about what they do on the floor.

And I'm just saying, don't start with the argumentative baiting posts every time.

Why would I want to get a good recruit based on OG going pro, rather than having OG 2 more years?

And it's perfectly fine that you want them to leave after this season. I prefer an older brand of basketball where it's not all about the NBA but about the college game, and the college team that I support.

I've said both that I would like OG to stay and I believe he won't have the year some are projecting. Even if he doesn't have a spectacular year he might have the opportunity as a first rounder. I thought it was pretty awesome Bryant chose to return and stated that he wanted more out of the college game. That earned him respect with the older generation IU fans that he would pass up millions to accomplish more FOR IU. Again, all just my opinion.

Because that can build into getting another one and another one and another and so on. And I'm not talking getting a Troy Williams on the wing. I'm talking getting a Wilkes or a Porter. Maybe we get lucky and get a Wiggins.

We may already be getting a Wilkes.

And if we would have had Zeller and VO another season, we'd have strung together another top 5 season and might have gotten an even bigger bounce.

Vonleh was the theoretical 5 star big that we got off Zeller being good, but we'd have been better with Zeller staying.
