(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU

Recommended Posts

From OwassoReporter:

“Shake” is not his given name, by the way. Malik was given his nickname as a connection to his father, who’s college nickname was “The Milk Man,” later dropped to just “Milk” when he played at Oklahoma Wesleyan and Texas A&M. And since the two were inseparable, “Milk-Shake” seemed appropriate.

And

“Definitely the best shooter I’ve coached,” Vancuren said. “Shake, as far as perimeter shooting, 15-footers, layups, he has the total game package as far as shooting is concerned. He handles the ball very well. He’s so calm and smooth. He never looks like he’s pushing. The game comes to him so easily. It’s a smoothness like he’s at peace with the game. You give him a gap, he’s going to finish at the rim. You back off, he’s going to hit the 3.”

Voted Gatorade player of year this past year in Oklahoma. Found this excerpt. Love it!
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound junior guard averaged 28 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 63 percent from inside the arc and 88 percent from the free-throw line this past season, leading the Rams (21-6) to the Class 6A semifinals. A 2013 First Team All-State selection, he scored a season-high 40 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists in an 80-77, double-overtime win over Muskogee in early February.
Milton has maintained a 3.94 GPA in the classroom. A member of the National Honor Society, he has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics and in association with his church youth group.

Impressive young man. He's a strong student athlete. He values giving his time to community groups and functions because he knows it's not all about him. Oh yes, his stats indicate he's a gamer! Hope he adds "Hoosier commit" to his bio.

When I rant about the fact that high major D1 HS kids should have dominant HS STATS, this is what I am talking about.  I had a major, major gripe with Collin Hartman (for example).  He did not display the STATS or skills of a high major D1 player.

I realize that there are some exceptions like PREP school kids playing with 3-5 other D1 players, they must share the ball.  Stats will likely suffer.

Generally though, as a rule, high major D1 players should be dominant in HS.

Shake appears to be just that AND more!!!!  28/6/4
