If Senior is added to the staff, then consider me an ex-fan right now...
of course I'm kidding, but it is an interesting notion of adding a father to the staff...it's worked a few times over the years...
Cal did it with DeJaun Wagner, and I believe Allen Houston was a combo package for UT.

Of course we would be doing it bass ackwards in relation to JBJ.

Gotta wonder about this. Mom is a doctor in Ft. Wayne. Marion is at least drivable for her. Bloomington would seem to present problems if they wish to stay together.

With Blackmon Sr. in the room would recruiting against UK be a problem?  E.g.: Roshown MacCleod ...

And consider this a second on the Blackmon Sr. isn't the greatest coach motion.  I'm only going off of watching two games, and I don't know exactly know the most about "good" coaching - but it was painfully obvious.  This includes the game where Blackmon Jr. blew out his knee and the Bracey Wright-esque "gameplan" of get it to Junior went out the window.

That being said, we aren't really needing to fill an X's and O's void from KJ leaving.  I think we could do much worse on a recruiting in Indiana front.  The talent in the state seems to be resurgent 2016 forward, moment there would be a good thing.

I say throw caution to the wind and bring on Blackmon Sr, AND Gordon Sr...

and maybe a Coleman SR to boot?

Gordon Sr. make more sense to me.  He is a fundamental, this is what works, type of guy.  Huge development coach in basketball "skills".  Pursue Gordon please!

Danny Manning and his dad were one of the first big names that took his father with him to college. It resulted in a championship as well as probation.
Recent video posted in the other thread made me think about this, but what about Eric Gordon Sr.?
I had a good 20 minute conversation with Gordon Sr. last year at Hoosier Hysteria. Very humble and knowledgeable guy. He seems like his thing is helping his kids be as good as they can be. His boy has a couple years of high school left and I believe he has a daughter junior high age that is a tennis player. I would be surprised if her were interested in assistant coaching at IU.

When do the summer restricted times end?

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

There are in quiet period until 7/5/14, then they are dead between 7/6-7/31/14 except for these dates:

(1) July 9 (5 p.m.) - 13 (5 p.m.)
 (2) July 16 (5 p.m.) - 20 (5 p.m.)
 (3) July 23 (5 p.m.) - 27 (5 p.m.)

Those are evaluation periods, so coaches are not allowed to talk to kids at events but they are allowed to watch. Can talk to kids only if they are on campus.

If a guy is not on a staff anywhere and currently is associated with HS kids then during these times that person would have a leg up. Probably cannot fully proclaim and wear IU gear but in quiet times they could say they are interviewing and negotiating a deal.

I know it has been done before.

Exactly... you don't have to be affiliated with a team or even talk about the team, but build that relationship up. Then boom... you're an assistant at IU and you turn that relationship into a sales pitch.
