HoosierAloha Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Dr. Fauci needs to stick with medicine. But he did keep the ball at least 6' from the catcher. [/url] Soooo how was he essential personnel? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Naturalhoosier 1 Quote

I want to get excited about it, but no fans, the NL DH and everyone getting in the playoffs makes it seems more like a Japanese gameshow. Too gimmicky. Quote
mdn82 Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Marlins game today just got cancelled with 4 players testing positive in 3 days. Quote
Brass Cannon Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Just read that it’s up to 8 players and 2 coaches. So all marlins games are cancelled for awhile it looks like Quote

So was the Yankees game, they were set to play the Phillies tonight. Frankly, there was always going to be an outbreak. Clubhouses, dugouts can be cleaned but players can still unknowingly spread it. About the only way this season could continue was to accept that not every team would play the same number of games; with such a short season there aren't enough off days to reschedule many if any games. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 These are amazing numbers. What might have been. Consider that Ted Williams has these career numbers: 2654 H 525 2B 521 HR 1798 R 1839 RBI 2021 BB AND YET: Lost his age 24, 25, and 26 seasons to WWII. Lost almost two more full years to the Korean War. HoosierAloha and johnsoniu 2 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 I miss Adrian Beltre. Guy loved the game. Retired at the end of 2018 at 39 but could have put in at least a couple of more years.....if he had played two more full years, he would have ended as a 3500 hit, 500 home run player. Only ONE player is in that club (Hank Aaron). As it was, he ended up with 3,165 hits -- more than George Brett, Tony Gwynn, and Robin Yount, and 477 home runs -- more than Stan Musial, Willie Stargell, and Dave Kingman. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Brian Anderson is the best major league baseball player that absolutely no one has ever heard of. So there. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I like you too Hinny--you are undoubtedly a quality person. However, your ill-conceived hopes for Cub celebration will be unfulfilled. I know I also speak for the brilliant johnsoniu; as a diehard White Sox fan (a team on the fast rise, not a slow slide) I can say without hesitation that the Marlins are an unstoppable force that will create great sadness in Wrigleyville starting today (but I do hope that Schwarbs crushes it). In conclusion, I leave you with the ultimate baseball savant ... Andy: ALASKA HOOSIER and johnsoniu 1 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 As a Tigers fan, I'm celebrating that we're a year closer to the end of Miguel Cabrera's contract, we're finally done paying Prince Fielder and we can finally offload the godawful Jordan Zimmerman. Enjoy the playoffs, even if your team only made it because of the expansion. It'll be eons before my team ever gets back. Quote

I had to look those up, they signed Cabrera to an 8 year extension in 2014 when he was on the wrong side of 30. Fielder hasn't been with the Brewers in years and retired in 2016. Who is running the show over there? I shouldn't say much, my Yankees are paying Brett Gardner about 10 mil a year and he's a 4th OF at this point. And let's not forget that awful ARod contract. thebigweave 1 Quote

The Marlins paid Wey-in Chen $22 million this year to go away for good. It was last year of the 5 year, $80 million deal. During that five years, Chen's total Marlins stats during the $80 million contract were: 13-19 W/L 5.10 ERA At least the Tigers and Yankees got a little sauce from the guys that eventually became overpaid.
