We could debate whether a big is necessary on offense, but I think we would probably just agree that a big is definitely very helpful if for no other reason than one of the hallmarks of Crean's good teams has always been exceptional offensive rebounding as it is one of the reasons his teams have been able to overcome mediocre to bad turnover rates.

We do need a big on defense. I don't think that's really all that debatable.
we need a Big yes... I just don't think we need a Zeller or Vonleh caliber big. It would definitely help!
Troy got much better about that at the end of the season. His overall efficiency on offense went from the low 90s in the first half of the conference season to just over 100 by the end of the season. Looking at the entire season, Troy wasn't quite as efficient as freshman Vic, but I think Troy was equal to Vic by the end of the season.

It's probably not fair to expect Troy to turn into junior Vic, but if Troy can improve his shooting and handles half as much as Vic did, he'll be great for us.
Vic could pick up an offense right away...Troy ..not so much..so run and gun was the preference.

Player 1 is Vic (freshman year)?

BINGO! Vic freshman year and Troy.

I think Troy is about to explode over the next couple seasons. He has so much talent. Just needs to work on his jump shot all offseason and not become complacent.

I love Troy and what he could become. But the Vic comparisons are made ad nauseam. I get that you guys want to compare Troy to someone, though at the same time I don't think you have to compare him to someone when talking about his future.

Hey all i know is Troy retweeted me when I said he reminded me of Vic.. So if he's ok with that comparison, I'm ok with throwing it out there.

That really isn't the point. Troy should be able to create his own history and identity away from Vic, the constant comparisons to Vic make it seem like his entire IU career should be compared to everything Vic did. As has been said in the past, that really isn't fair to either person.

I feel troy is twice as athletic as vic his freshman year but the pressure is on troy to work to become not vic but better than vic is where he should wind up

Do you think Vic cared when Dickie V was comparing him to a mini Michael? It's just a reference point to where the player is at as of right now. He will form his own identity, but it is a good refernece point for now.

Well even then that was one time, and then a number of other people basically mocking Dickie V. for the comparison. It becomes nearly impossible to get through any discussion about Troy's future without saying he'll be like Vic. I don't mind comparisons, but it is definitely possible to talk about Troy without always bringing up Vic

Based on the PM you just sent me, you should leave the speculation to his identity to others. No, he is not trying to pose as Victor Oladipo. LMFAO. Seriously? Like, for real? You just joined the site from Facebook, right?

Sorry to all for sharing a PM's contents. But, wow. Just wow.

I didn't say he did it well, but if I remember correctly someone did this exact same thing on the scouts message board a few years back.  And I speculate its the same person doing it again now.  That's all.

Thanks for correcting my mistake and I apologize for the rest that have been offended. I guess our season wasn't as bad as I thought and we won't have to pass as many next year to get back on top.

That obviousdly isn't the point.. I was attempting sarcasm.....

But in all honesty, what's wrong with comparisons? Of course he will create his own legacy. It's just fun to imagine Troy being the next Victor. The next great Indiana wing player. Don't take yourself so seriously.

^^^^

  1. @gunskillwallets @AssemblyCall in a span of 16 yrs from 1983-2000 Knight lost 23 players to transfer. 30% higher than current B1G average.

  2.

@gunskillwallets @AssemblyCall Bob Knight lost 2 players in 1985, 3 players in 86 and 2 in 87. All scholarship. Walk-ons likely mixed in too

Has there been any news as to where they are transferring to? I heard a rumor about Gonzaga not sure which one or both of them. Other than that I haven't seen any news about it..
