Who would you hire to replace CTC?

I LOVE Billy Donovan. Seriously, if I had to choose one college coach in America to come here, it would be Donovan.

From Donovan's point of view it may make sense. I'm not sure what he has coming back, he already almost left once, so presumably hes not totally happy, UF is a football school and at IU he would get the appreciation he deserves. It almost certainly wouldn't happen but boy would I love if we gave it a shot.

He was an assistant under Pitino at Louisville for 6 seasons and in his 3rd year Manhattan (this year) led them to a tourney birth. I'm not sure he's worth it right now, but some top tier school will pick him up and it will be a good choice. He's an up and comer in the college basketball coaching industry.

KingPG21, I really really like the idea of Dan Fife and agree that breaking in a top assistant might not be a bad thing. If it were the right guy, I could get behind that.

I'd like it because IPFW were always really good defensive teams for the talent he had at his disposal. His offense wasn't that good, but again he was a bit limited in what he would be able to do with the guys he recruited at IPFW.

I think he has pretty good support at UF even with it being a football school. Next year I know he has 2 really nice freshman coming back in Kasey Hill and Chris Walker. Walker could leave, but I doubt it. Plus, he picked up one really nice freshman that we were after. Devin Robinson I believe? Other than that, I'm not sure.

Roy Williams didn't take the UNC job when it first opened. Since we have no sanctions this time maybe he might have second thoughts.

I thought the issue was he tried to get more money in his contract and that was the issue. Though looking at some of the money involved in Crean's current contract I'd want to see what Bennett was asking for

Didn't IU fire his sister as the women's coach a year or two before our last search? Might have had something to do with it. Also, I wouldn't have been surprised if he and a few other coaches were turned off by the cesspool that they would be entering at the time.

Maybe, I don't know, if that did happen I could see it having influence on his decision.

And definitely with the sanctions that any coach was going to have to deal with. That would negatively impact just about any coach seemingly

I didn't realize that was his sister.  I think the second  part may be the most pertinent. It was worse than starting a program from scratch.

Also just for ****s and giggles, Isaiah Thomas? Both stories are out there. Its not like either one is confirmed. Like him or not he might have found a home at VA.

I'm not a fan of Woodson at all. The system he has set up is solid enough in principle and his teams execute it well enough. But I don't think a lot of the complaints we have about Crean would be a ton different with Woodson. I know the NBA style of play is different, but even when he was in Atlanta his offense wasn't very advanced even for an NBA franchise. And now in New York it has developed a lot into Melo isoing just about every time down the court. People complain about Crean's offense often devolving into isos, I don't see Woodson making that huge of an adjustment to the college game with what his teams do.

Greg Paulus the assistant at Ohio State and former Duke point guard would be interesting. I think I would really like him if he were a bit more seasoned because I think one day he will make a great head coach. After a stint at Army he has quickly become Thad's right hand man on the bench. One day he will be great but at 27 I don't think Indiana is the place for him to learn on the job.

Yea sadly I just looked into it and it seems UVA has a lot coming back next year. I'd be surprised to see him leave from a basketball only standpoint it wouldn't make much sense.

Why not steve wojciechowski from duke? He's pretty much the coach in waiting there right now but I really really like him.

I thought about having him on my initial list, but I figured he would want to stay at Duke. Thinking in the line of Duke coaches, maybe Chris Collins a few years down the line, maybe Johnny Dawkins, maybe Jeff Capel
