Seriously?? Let's let IU basketball be relevant again. Let's spend some money, get some real talent in Bloomington! How about some home grown talent? Calbert or Steve Alford or even Isaiah? Heck maybe my 3 year old even that wouldn't be worse then what we have

You deleted the beginning of my post where I said cherry pick stats to make your candidate sound good.

Even so I'd take Crean over Paulus/Fife/Lansing who are all mentioned on this thread

I did delete that part, but I wouldn't say I cherry picked any stats considering my post is his entire career.

Isaiah? I won't watch, great basketball player, but he gives Michael Jordan a run for his money in his utter lack of ability to actually evaluate basketball talent.

Isaiah? No

Calbert? I'd like to see him be a head coach first. I don't want him just because he's a Hoosier hero. That doesn't make him a good coach.

Alford? Buy out Crean, Buy out Alford. About 24 mil right now, I believe. That's before you sign a contract. Alford may be a good candidate in the future, but he hasn't shown any tourney success up to this point. This fan base doesn't care about 25 win seasons that end in the first round.

I see the appeal in bringing in an Indiana guy, but it may be hard to find a coach that is all around considered "ideal."

I realize it is outlandish, but I would love for us to make a run at Shaka Smart if Tom Crean were to go. Other candidates I would like include: Josh Pastner, Bryce Drew, Greg Marshall, Greg McDermott, Tony Benett, Bruce Peal. None of these names are probable or may be good "fits."

Perhaps someone better informed on IU basketball could make a better list.

Discuss...

I would like to see Brad Stevens or Reggie Miller next in line for the IU basketball coach

the Calbert Cheaney talk really scares me

I mean the dude has been an assistant coach for all of one season, right?

I really have no faith in our ability to find the right guy

Brad Stevens, John Beilein, Gregg Marshall, or Tony Bennett are the kind of men we need

I'm pretty sure even God couldn't make this fan base happy, although many seemed to think Bob Knight was back in the day.

Well, some still do.

Are you saying the Methodists own Bobby Knight?

I think having gone through all the coaches we have had since Coach Knight, be careful what you wish for! The only reason Davis was a little successful was, he had some of Knights recruits! Everyone is on Coach Crean. We should be on the NCAA for letting these young men go pro before they are in between their junoir & senior year. I also blame the NBA, for letting it happen. Myself, I think IU should fire anyone & everyone, that had a hand in firing Knight! The program hasn't been the same since! Tom Crean has done more to help the program than hurt it! JUST SAYING!!!!!!
