(2016) C Thon Maker

Recommended Posts

If we get thon, we would have:
Thon, Thomas, yogi, Troy, and JBJ starting.
NZ. ROJO. Hartman. Hanner. Holt. Davis.
Plus, OG and juwan
5+6+2= 13 people.
It's too good to be true, I foresee Davis, NZ, or holt getting creaned/ leaving if we get thon.
It's sad to see.
Even if og and juwan sit the bench the whole year, there's 11 guys left, and there aren't enough minutes for everyone.

I'd put the chances of any of those three getting "creaned" at a big fat 0%. Plus you listed 13 players and we have 13 scholarships so no one else would need to be "creaned" if Priller and April were gone.

Well judging from the Thomas Bryant commitment, there will be 3-4 new threads stating that :)

Means I won't have trouble finding out that he's headed to IU. BTB may be my only source !

The way I see it the fact he can't come till December helps us. Kansas and Kentucky are both going to have 2 five star bigs. Thon knows he's not going to be guaranteed to start over a 5 star that's been on campus for months. Here he will start maybe not right away but he will start.

Wait, is it now a foregone conclusion he won't join a school until December now?  I thought he wouldn't really know his status until June when exams were over for his prep school

Is it even allowed for a player to just be in college 1 semester then go pro? Because if thon came in at December and it isn't allowed that would leave us with him for atleast 1 1/2 years. I'm down

After the Nike Hoop Summit, not sure Maker is the guy we should be going after.  If Murray reclassifies gotta think hes a much higher priority.  Even if Murray doesn't reclassify not sure Thon would be able to actually contribute.  Looking like a  guy who will struggle his freshman year.  Might be a solid player one day, but not going to help us next year.  Would rather have a guy who can replace Yogi once hes gone ready.

So you're telling me you don't want a 5star big man? Woah.

I didn't watch the whole thing, and I realize this was an all star type event, but he didn't do a thing to stand out while I was watching.  A couple times he showed some potential, but looked like a player still learning the game and has a ways to go yet.  Certainly didn't look like a player deserving of the slob fest he's getting on this board.  He made one free throw while I was watching, albeit he had pretty good form, but when he was in position for a couple boards he bobbled them or just flat lost them; drove once and lost the ball on the way up.

I would say Meyer is right, good prospect but no where near the hype; more raw than people on this board are wanting to say/admit.

Yep, thats why I would rather stand pat with who we have.  Well I guess as I said before we need a plan at PG.

I think the year after next could be really special if we have a plan to replace Yogi with either a solid Sophomore or a stud Freshman.

I'm not sure I see the year after next being "really special".  We could lose Yogi/Hanner/Zeisloft for sure and probably Troy and maybe Blackmon, so at least we're losing 4 and possibly 5 not counting any transfers; unless we bring in a Calipari type class we're most likely looking at another of those 'rebuilding years' that was supposed to be an aberration.
