Noah

Recommended Posts

I don't see Noah going.  He hasn't had a good game against a good team.  This draft is so loaded.  If he was coming to just get into the 1st round, then fair enough.  Education is big in his family.  I would honestly be surprised if he wasn't here for a 2nd year.  Now, if we don't get a big or 3 for 2015, then we are in big trouble.

Starting lineup next year...

PG - Yogi

Wing - JBJ

Wing - Williams

Wing - Hollowell

Post - Vonleh

RoJo will be the first guard off the bench

StanRob will be the first wing off the bench

Perea will be the first post off the bench

Davis should be the only other receiving double digit or near double digit mpg.  We will be a top 10 team for most of the year and make a serious run in the tourney.  If we fail to accomplish certain goals next season more important people will start to heat up coach's seat.
Thought i saw yesterday he was @ #8 in the mock draft. I think he goes and our problems compound. I don't see us landing a serviceable Big the next 2 years.
He's top ten for sure, and it won't matter if he has a subpar game against good competition. Teams are going to love him and he'll stay in the top ten of the mock drafts because he's 6'10" and can do a lot of things already while barely being 18.

He won't sniff the top five though, and will likely be a top three pick next year. I think he stays, develops, and gets paid after his sophomore season.

Nope, not anymore...article from about a month ago. I think he joins CA.

“I’m talking to Indiana, but we don’t really talk that much,” Lyle said on Dec. 7. “They only have one scholarship left or something. They kind of wanted me to sign early, and I wasn’t feeling (an early decision). So they kind of backed off.”

He has made unofficial visits to Connecticut and Memphis since his decommitment and said his first official visit will be to Kansas on Jan. 11. He wants to officially visit Oregon, which had an assistant coach at Marshall County, and Florida State.

Lyle said about 10 other schools are under consideration for his other two official visits, if he takes them. Asked if Indiana is on his list right now, he said, “not really.” He also said he’s had no contact with Kentucky.

Keep in mind the question of whether or not he is ready is irrelevant. It's all about who has his ear and what scouts are telling him. Some of his not having good games against good teams isn't totally his fault. When there is no outside threat, the lane gets clogged and he can't operate like Cody could.

I think he's gone. I've seen no mock draft where he goes higher ( or lower, which ever way you want to look at it) than #9.

There would be no hard feelings if he does. Just wish he'd take Jeremy with him if he leaves.

While we need to sign another big man, I see Crean making a push at him in the Spring since Luke transferred and rumors are flying about someone else maybe transferring. I'd rather see us try to sign a quality big in the Spring though.

Johnson won't start over JBJ or Williams.

Johnson wouldn't so much be competing with Williams for minutes.  He's not a 3/4, he's a 2 or combo so he'd be competing with Blackmon and Stan mostly and he won't beat either of them for minutes if Stan develops.  I've said that many times.

He's a solid get, but he's not the type of freshman that starts from day 1.

He'd better make a push for a big, not Lyle because we're fine with guards and wings.  We desperately need help down low, and we need to start having balanced classes so the big really needs to be a JUCO or a graduate transfer ala Evan Gordon.  We really cannot afford to take on another 4 year player this year and start balancing classes.

im so 50/50 on this. The thing for me is though, it really wont be a big loss for us to me, im not going to be critical as much as some have on other sites and forums, but it seems as if Crean has hard time using "centers" and "big men" the way most of us would. We hardly utilize Noah right now and i dont think its going to change, therefore i dont think it will be that hard of a loss if he leaves. in other words hes a great player but he doesnt really produce as much as we thought, because of the system.

Agree to some degree, but he is a force in the lane on D and in rebounding. We have other big men who can clog the lane, but Perea can fumble away more rebounds than he can grab. Just on rebounds, second chance points and defense, Vonleh is a valuable force to be reckoned with.
