I'd like to think it's because the field is 150 degrees. When you think about having to be tough enough to win in the elements, you think rain, snow, wind or brutal cold. Usually not extreme heat.

Field temp is no excuse. If it's actually 150º on the field, it's 150º for both teams.

I do traffic studies and I've had data where the roadway temp is in the 140s when the air temp is 95-100. And this 'turf' is largely plastic and rubber that just soaks in the heat.

The turf also sits on a base of ABS or similar. We have turf in our back yard and in the summer it's too hot to walk on barefoot.

I mean, their defense hasn't exactly been great, either. Everyone's saying our offense looks ahead of the curve for a season opener, maybe the heat is slowing down their defense, too.

Hoover and the WRs have been incredible.  The rest has been pretty blah.   Been really disappointed in the defense especially.   And I hope Khobie Martin gets more burn.  He’s our most explosive RB.

There are reports (unverified) that Martin broke his arm.

I’ve seen broken arm/dislocated shoulder, but that’s just twitter rumors
