2025 IUFB Season

Recommended Posts

Game 1 in the books. IUFB 27 ODU 14. I liked what I saw regarding the front 5. Total domination. Could have potentially been a 50+ point blowout. But it wasn't and there's a lot to work on.

Next game: Kennesaw State Owls

Dropped 3 spots in the coaches poll after the ODU game. Now 23rd.

That's the AP.

Dropped 2 spots in the Coaches. Sitting at #21.

Bama and FSU basically shuffled us down in both polls.

Heading into week 2:

  • Safety Bryson Bonds will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
  • Safety Byron Baldwin Jr. is day to day.
  • Safety Louis Moore (starter) is still able to play as he waits a final court ruling on his eligibility for the season that stems from a pending lawsuit against the NCAA.

The safety position is a concern for depth.

Games to keep an eye on this Saturday:

#11 Illinois (1-0) at Duke (1-0) - ESPN Noon ET
Iowa (1-0) at #16 Iowa St. (2-0) - FOX Noon ET
Oklahoma St (1-0) at #6 Oregon (1-0) - CBS/Paramount+ 3:30PM ET

All of these games have impact for IUFB down the road and will give all of us a better picture regarding what kind of teams these opponents are, meaning contenders or pretenders. Oregon should handle OK State but the other two might be close games. Personally, I'd like to see all the B1G lose and realize that will impact SOS for us. But the more that lose in the conference the higher the chances of us looking to planning a weekend in Indianapolis during Conference Championship weekend. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself though.

Ummmm.  Michigan @ Oklahoma?

Here’s why people that hate Friday night CFB have a point. Next Friday, IU hosts Indiana State. At approximately halftime, Bloomington South vs North and Terre Haute South vs North will both kickoff. Big, local crosstown rivalries. It sucks for people with rooting interests at both levels.

Has Bloomington North improved (or South regressed) enough since I went there 30 years ago to make it an actual game?

North has been pretty solid recently. I think they’ve won the last 2 against South. And I’m not sure the last time South had a losing season.

It's pretty much all of 812 brother. We hate it down here in the southwestern parts along the banks of the Ohio as well.

Not quite as important, for me at least, in the grand scheme of things, because neither is on our schedule.

Oh, it matters in the grand scheme.  Better give Michigan's schedule a glance.  After their tilt with the Sooners, the Wolves don't play another team that is currently ranked until they play Ohio St.

I've looked at it. IUFB's schedule does not have Michigan on it, which is important for measuring SOS. Michigan only matters later on in the season if both schools are winning and like opponent are used to help determine certain metrics. I think they lose at least 3 games, maybe more, this year. I could be wrong but it's awfully difficult to win with a true freshman at QB. They'll get challenged big time by Nebraska, SC, Washington, and OSU. And I think every road game minus Northwestern will be difficult challenges for Underwood. If I had to bet, he's going to have some growing pains, especially on the road. Again, I could be wrong.

My point being.  Michigan has an easy path to the CFB.  We need them to lose at least 3 games imo.

Curious how other ticket holders felt about getting this. It rubbed me the wrong way, personally. Trying to solve a problem (that just about every school in the nation faces, by the way) by shaming the people that are buying the tickets (that you just jacked up prices on for this dogs**t schedule, by the way) would not be how I conduct business. Per usual for this group, it’s lame and out of touch at best, but as I’ve said about 100 times the last few years, I don’t understand a lot of things that the IU ticket/marketing department does.

That wasn’t the best message, but personally it didn’t bother me too much — I took it as more encouragement than shaming.  I get where you are coming from though.

The wording isn’t great.  “Here we go again”?  Who wrote that?  This should be saying the team needs the fans all game for XYZ reasons and it should be written and signed by Scott Dolson and maybe also Cig.

At the end of the day, our football fanbase is small, but more than that, IU overpriced the cupcake games by quite a bit.

These crowd tomorrow won’t be good and IU didn’t do a good job moving tickets.

I think what annoyed me most was your 2nd paragraph. It reads like it was written by someone in marketing that’s completely clueless. Cig can scream from the rooftops that I need to be in my seat for 4 quarters and I’ll probably even listen. He’s earned it. I don’t need some marketing nerd telling me to stick around for an entire Kennesaw State football game.

Yea.  Good point.

If they would have told us we need the fans there to help the team (i) get the best final score for our playoff push, (ii) prep for the conference schedule, and (iii) show out for recruits, that would resonate a lot more with me and give me a sense of purpose to stay.  Just my $0.02.
