2025 IUFB Season

I wonder if Urban will be like he was last season if IU is in the CFP picture again, as they probably will be. For much of the season Urban was talking about how good and well coached IU was similar to this. Then at the end of the season totally changed his tune where they weren't good enough.

He turned on us?  Dang.  I can’t keep all these talking heads straight.  Kinda disappointing, he seemed to be on our side.

It really is IUFB (and maybe that Iowa podcast) vs the world.

One thing I’m curious about is how Shanahan calls Oregon, one complaint is it feels like in every particularly big game, we get a little shy/conservative with our play calling.

felt like that was the case with Iowa/Notre Dame/Ohio State, and obviously three of our worst offensive performances there.

would like to see us be more aggressive there.

Interesting. I thought we were too aggressive against Iowa.

IIRC, a few JMU fans said that when we hired Cignetti that he has a tendency to get conservative so the play calling in big games can be frustrating.

Maybe Cig feels so confident in his defense that he doesn’t feel that he wants to take the risk. Iowa was a good example. Our defense controlled them. Didn’t need to risk creating a short field for them unnecessarily.

I went and watched a replay of one of those games the one JMU fan complained about... at the end of the game I just thought the JMU fan had no clue what he was talking about.

That's why the two 4th down decisions I didn't agree with. Punt and kick the FG.

I agree.

There are an unbelievable number of positives about the team and program but……. only 8 first half pass attempts against Iowa?

The 4th and 1 calls running up the middle into 9 guys?

A little head scratching but, as you note, not entirely unusual when we play against better teams.

Smart QB's, keep the squad happy

Yea.  Another example that comes to mind is he took the OL to St. Elmo’s earlier this year.  Plus I’m sure the team appreciates some of those hits he took at Iowa standing in the pocket and scrambling.

Good stuff.

Get ready...next week its indiana at OREGON

https://x.com/CollegeGameDay/status/1974625679959294017?

Nervous and excited.  Oregon might be the best team in football and they will be amped.  I think if we compete that’s a win.  If we win it sets us up as the best.  If we get blown out it knocks us down a small to medium peg.

Lets go Hoosiers!

We gotta control the trenches. But honestly my thing is I don’t know what Oregon is. Their 1 good win looks alot less good than it did last week.
