The one bright side is we know Coach Cig will be more pissed off than all of us combined. He may lock the players in the film room until next Saturday.

Or

You’re going to run till you can’t eat supper.  :)

After calming down some I gotta say I do trust in cig.  Why, because I googled him again!  On to next Saturday. Go Hoosiers.

What did Google tell you? :)

I don’t understand the negativity going on here. This was week 1 of a 14+ week season with a ton of new faces. Improve daily, weekly and we will have a true gauge on the team come the Illini game. Have you guys not been watching other games? Majority of teams are struggling offensively naturally. (Mich is up 14, Kansas state is losing, A&M is up 4). IU has talent and good coaching I don’t understand the pessimism at all. I used to watch IU in OT v Toledo, saw Navy put up 70, and go years without a winning record. These are literally the glory days for IUFB

3-0 heading into September 20th is my expectation. Win that and move into the top 10

Step 1. Taking accountability.

That’s great and and a good sign.

Let’s see if he has the tools to fix the issues.
I’m concerned the happy feet, decision making, and general delivery left enough to be desired that I’m not so sure, but Cig and staff will find out what he’s capable of.

Yea.   This staff is still just starting their second season after inheriting a broken program that won three Big 10 games in three years and has the most losses in D1 history.  Last year was great, but the program is still in the process of being built up and there will be bumps in the road and uncertainty.  We are still a small program trying to move up in the CFB world.

I don’t really disagree with any concerns cited, I’m just giving this staff leeway.  They’ve earned it.

Not even remotely worried.

Ehhhh.  I am.  That was a really poor showing today and those words don't mean spit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing him off yet but today was poor qb play

I’ll give Mendoza the benefit of the doubt. We ran the ball 57 times. It’s a small sample size 31 passes and one of the incompletions should have been a 54 yard TD. His touch playing at game speed will come.

I have a feeling he still has flashbacks at Cal behind their O-Line, even the announcers said that too. Since they say he throws it quick because of it.

The Happy Feet are likely a by product of getting the tar beat out of him at Cal last season...I think I read where he was one if not the most sacked QB last season. He threw it up for grabs several times, those will be interceptions in B1G Ten play! Depth chart has Grant Wilson a redshirt senior as backup #1....I know nothing about this guy, is he any good?

He didn’t suddenly forget how to play QB and he has a group of coaches behind him that know what they’re doing. We’ll be fine.

I really don’t think people remember how uncertain things felt post-FIU last year. That game was similarly fugly against a horrendous opponent. Two more weeks to sort things out.

Are these the same set of coaches that were calling the plays in the redzone?

*asking for a friend.

In all seriousness I found it interesting that Cig said redzone play calling was a concern all week in postgame. They had their maddening moments down there last year, but today was terrible. I’d be curious to hear specifically what ODU was doing that gave them so much trouble.

Two more horrendous opponents coming.

Does anyone know if coach Cig told his wife how many wins he sees on the 2025 IU football schedule?

I would too.

That has to get better.

It seemed as though coaching strategy was to win a certain way (Knight used that tactic/strategy at times against lesser opponents)…that looked ugly.

Illinois game expect receiving crew and qb to be much better (not like last year) Sarratt and others to come together with QB.  Then, IU can run the ball (red zone).  Defense played pretty well except a couple missed assignments that went for TDs considering defense lacked help from offense.
