Up to #60 on 247. Had never of him until Mizzou offered him. My understanding is he had no high major offers until just a couple of weeks ago. So it’s probably reasonable to assume this is a wide open recruitment, Napleshoosier 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 In a 247 recruiting update, Howard said IU, Tennessee & Memphis were currently recruiting him the hardest. In no hurry to cut his list of offers or make any commitment. Mentioned he's talked with us on the phone and specifically mentioned our head coach as well. rayl456 and Home Jersey 1 1 Quote

In my perspective, mostly because of who we targeted, this is the least impressive recruiting window I can remember. Went hard after 2 PGs, 2 or 3 wings, and 3 or more centers only to land 1 100+ recruit. I wanted the portal anyhow so it’s kinda whatever. But from a program momentum perspective this looks bad. No juice. MemphisHoosier and Scotty R 1 1 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Last time in your opinion IU as a program had recruiting momentum and juice for high school recruiting? Crean had pop for a 2 or 3 seasons. Archie had Romeo and TJD then nothing. Woodson had pop for 2 years and a portal “haul” or at least some Juice. I feel like pre and post NIL is a thing at Indiana. Granted we only put ourselves near the top for 1 Woodson season where he wasted the expenditure. It’s been an entirely disappointing stretch for our fanbase. Usually our 4 year coaches have failed by year 2 and then we suffer through years 3 and 4 with less Juice. This go round, we are trying the incognito route of roster building. The disconnect with fans and IUs high school recruiting in my opinion comes from the fact the basically the last time we had a coach that put in effort on the high school avenue was back with Archie over 4 years ago. Sure Woody had some success with landing highly rated high school kids but none of them were long term recruiting wins. IUs footprint in high school recruiting has been non existent. DeVries seems to get it and has made himself visible in the recruiting world. He seems to have no problem grinding and doing the work even if the results hasn’t shown up in the first cycle. Establish connections on the recruiting trail again for your program and maybe down the road you get IU back in the game that they have sorely been absent from. Looking back at high school recruiting that IU as a program has had since Archie’s last year through this year will make you not feel well. The number of those kids that were only here 1 year to help or left before they could contribute to the program and it’s no wonder the program is where it’s at today. Results might not be there yet but the fact they have a coach willing to roll his sleeves up and actually recruit like the job demands is nice to see in my opinion. sirhoosierlot, go iu bb, RaceToTheTop and 6 others 8 1 Quote
