He’s little for a 2 but seems like a 1 or a small 2.  Assuming Conerway I’d think was a 1 but he’s a 1-2.  Enright seems more of a 1.  Rooting for deuce to make the leap.

this is a quick read folks, but this kid is saying all the right things! This really stood out to me:

 

On the roster IU is assembling for next season:

“The coaching staff is getting the pieces. They’re not getting all of the high level guys, they’re getting the guys that are trying to win and are about the right thing and everybody is pretty selfless. I feel like that’s the way you build a winning team and a winning culture. I feel like that’s what coach is trying to get with his first team at Indiana.”

Drake looks like the prototype of a spark plug guard off the bench.  Nifty ballhandling, good quickness, and a pure shot.  Shooting free throws at 86.5% this last year implies the shooting is not a fluke.  He can create offense, and you can never have too many of those players.  Big question is whether he can maintain his efficiency with the step up in competition.  Defense will also be a question mark, especially at his size.  I think we will like him.

We might be trying the Alabama approach this year. Score 100 and hope the other team doesn’t score 101. Would be a pretty fun year 1, at least.

Have no opinion of Drake as a player yet, but I am really happy for the kid. Straight washes out at Cleveland St but then just takes a step back, finds a path, busts his a$$ and now he’s in the B1G. If there is 1 thing with CDD so far, none of these kids is bringing a sense of entitlement with them. Gonna be a really, really easy team to root for.

Well said.  It leaves me with concerns but ultimately I’ll be rooting harder than ever.   I think there is a fine line on getting talent and getting the right talent.  Gotta have the right mentality.  But also have to have the talent.  Let’s hope DeVries is threading that needle.

This quote also kind of looks like some UH teams Sampson has built in building the UH program into one of the best in D1. Said it before, but I like what I'm seeing from DeVries in his recruiting and commitments so far.
