Well after One Shining Moment is over it is kind of sad knowing it will be 7 months until we see basketball again. Even though the play wasn't great to ight it is still better than no college basketball.
Yep. At least it is baseball season. When baseball is done, it will be time for basketball.

Difficult to fathom having a possession with 20 or so seconds to play to either win a natty or force OT -- and not even being able to get a shot off.

Not when you look at the sideline and seeing Kelvin Sampson!

Such a shame…

Good morning on this beautiful Tuesday and a Happy Kelvin-Sampson-Still-Has-as-Many-Natty’s-as-Every-Single- Poster-on-This-Board Day to those who celebrate it!

I call him "Kevin" Sampson, because apparently he really appreciates that. I have also been in the habit of now saying "Gon-ZAH-ga."

Last night after the game, a reporter asked him about only having 5 assists all game while it is the lowest total they have had all year, and he asked his name and explained what an assist is.  It was a DBag response. At least he wasn't sending the guy a d!ck pic.

I don't hate Kelvin (Kevin), and I don't think much about '06-'08 anymore, but I am glad he lost last night.

The situation with him here was complicated.  Maybe IU could have worked through it with him (as in make the call/tests issue go away), but Kelvin put IU in a tough spot for no good reason.  And his team had poor character  -- I get they were upset their coach on probation broke the rules again and got fired, but that's not an excuse to react how they did.  In the end, Kelvin and who he brought here hurt IU.

He's a great coach and he's had a nice comeback, but I'm still not a fan and I am glad he didn't get the championship.

I mean, most questions these guys are asked are ridiculously stupid and asked by complete nerds.

Never understood why any IU fan would have a nice word to say about him.

It was a legit question being asked about the game and one of the reasons they could've lost, but he was just being a jerk.   He kinda threw Roberts under the bus with the answer.   https://www.sportskeeda.com/college-basketball/news-kelvin-sampson-seems-reporter-s-question-florida-stuns-houston-ncaa-title-game-let-explain-assist-works

The reporter should have paid attention to Sampson's opening remarks and he would have realized the question wasn't necessary to begin with. He actually reiterated the answer to the reporter's question, twice, before it was even asked.

Verbatim stated, "we did not score enough to win",

Nah... I just watched that whole press conference. That question was a joke and it was answered numerous times before it was even asked... the reporter chose to cling to that question the entire time lol ...Sampson then laughs it off in the end.

He still didn't need to be an a$$hole to him.  That happens in press conferences though, and he wasn't happy because of the way they lost and wasn't in the mood.  Kinda like being told to not send any texts or make phones calls that you aren't supposed to, but you do it anyway because you don't think it is that big of a deal.

I don't think he was an *******.

Why didn't the reporter just pay attention?

Because they want the sound bite of them answering their question.  Sampson didn't need to be a d!ck.

It just didn't seem like he was. I feel like the reporter should ask decent questions, and not ones that were answered extensively in the first 15 minutes of the PC. To each their own.

I can't stand Sampson, but I despise the media and nerds in the media more.

Regardless of Sampson's response, which is debatable, this is not a legitimate question and truly makes me question how much ball the reporter knows. Again, to each their own.

He would be in the “good riddance, no thoughts given “ category for me if not for the fact that on every IU message board there is a subset of folks who believe that if only IU were dumb enough to try and lower themselves to join Sampson in his dip-s##t-ness we would somehow have ascended back to the top of the college basketball world.  Those people annoy me.

And I have little good to say about IU’s administration over the last 25 years. If you want to be critical of IU it should be for ever hiring him while on probation at the expense of other qualified candidates.

And while Sampson is a good coach, he has serious flaws. I enjoy pointing those out to the IU fans who have convinced themselves that they would’ve enjoyed watching Sampson’s version of the Orlando-1 offense the last 20 years if only IU would’ve covered up some phone calls and Kelvin could’ve sprung Bud Mackey from a Kentucky jail.
