IUFB vs Washington - Saturday, 10.26.24 - ESPN College Game Day

Recommended Posts

I don't follow baseball at all.  Not even a little.

Is Schwarber well known across the country?  Or is he just popular amongst Hoosier fans?  Surely hopefully he's a popular player with a national following

It’s my anniversary, I’m at the beach…..but COLLEGE F’n GAMEDAY is at IU!
Life is so full of difficult choices

Over the course of your happy marriage, I’m sure you’ve done worse than finding a sports bar asap.

Think Mike Ditka with a baseball bat.

I mean, I know who he is because I follow IU sports.  Does the country?  I truly don't know how popular he is outside of Indiana fans

Wow, if I was somewhere else and just getting my 1st look at Cig on this Gameday set I would swear he was doing Bob Knight cosplay.

Exactly

Since day one every time I see him interviewed all I can think of is the old Bob Knight show.  ( a weekend staple growing up)

Find some old you tube clips if you’re a young’n.  It’s remarkably similar.

Friend of mine coached a lot of High School sports here in Ohio.  Big OSU fan...nice guy anyway.  Loves baseball, he does.

Of course, he knows Kyle Schwarber.  Schwarber is like Pete Rose but doesn't bet on baseball and just gets on.  He knocks the ball into orbit.  All.  The.  Time.  Gets walked a lot too.  Designated hitter, now.  Lead-off batter a lot.

Wiki:

Schwarber played college baseball for the Indiana Hoosiers and was a first-round selection in the 2014 MLB draft by the Cubs, making his MLB debut with the Cubs the following year. He was a member of the Cubs’ 2016 championship team and also played with the Phillies in the 2022 World Series.

Known for his powerful, hard-hit home runs and high walk rate in contrast to his low batting average, Schwarber led the National League in home runs during his 2022 debut season with the Phillies, earning him his first Silver Slugger Award. He holds the record for most National League Championship Series home runs (11), and has the distinction of being the only player to hit a home run in the Little League World Series, World Series, and World Baseball Classic championship game.

Kyle who?
